Now back to our previously scheduled project

When my recent visitor arrived, I must admit that I was already in the middle of a very enjoyable project. Still, it was an honor that she paid me a visit, so I dropped everything to entertain her.

Well, she left for sunny California today (Hi, Carolyn!), so I’m returning to the project that I was already working on.

No, it’s not this:

ps-bk-13-7-progress

Designer: Prairie Schooler
Pattern: Book 13, A Prairie Year, July block
(Stitched on 32-count natural linen using recommended DMC floss)

And it’s not this either:

chs-just-a-little-sampler-1

Designer: Carriage House Samplings
Pattern: Just a Little Sampler
(Stitched on
R&R 40-count Crème Brûlée linen using my own color conversion to match this.)

And it’s not this either, though I am beginning to think about getting back to it:

nrr-progress-2008-0907

(Sorry. I hate to point out the obvious, which is that I’ve let this one go waaaay too long, but remember how I pointed out this, and then I managed to do this and this, not to mention the start I made on my sampler wall? Well, perhaps lightning will strike yet again. And yes, I promise to let you know if anything changes.)

OK, so what exactly have I been working on? Why, this, of course:

gh-two-pinkeeps-1

Designer: Goode Huswife
Pattern: Two Pinkeeps
(Stitched on R&R Kansas City Blend, 35 count linen, using substituted DMC colors to adjust for the color of the fabric)

Aren’t stitching choices wonderful (if not overwhelming at times)?

Now just don’t ask me why I think I have any business starting this on April 16 for Annemarie’s new SAL:

Plenty of hours in the day, right? Plenty of hours . . .

🙂

P.S. If anyone wants to join Annemarie’s very relaxed SAL but doesn’t have a CHS stocking pattern of their own, I happen to own two of these. (Yes, I liked it so much, I bought it twice!) Anyway, if you’re interested in buying my spare, just leave me a comment and we can talk.

Sisterhood Drawing Results

Wow! What wonderful invitations our Sisterhood friend received. I must say that, after reading them all, I wanted to go in her place! But instead, I stayed true to my original promise.

I put all of those lovely invitations into the official Bowl of Chance:

And after carefully checking all of the legal guidelines for the contest (and not finding any!), I drew out this slip:

The winner of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pattern is Carolyn of Taking One Stitch at a Time!!

Carolyn’s invitation read:

Oh! I love her and I believe she is ready to travel to the sunny state of California in the desert. Please enter my name. Thank you.
Carolyn

Well, Carolyn, it looks like you were right! I’ll e-mail to get your snail mail address so she can quickly be on her way. Congratulations!! I hope you enjoy entertaining your new friend!!

And now, if you’re still interested, I’ll close with some pictures of how Ms. Sisterhood spent her last day here.

First, she decided to go to the spa with this “buddy”:

And here they are, ready to get all dolled up:

Actually, this is an in-progress picture, because they had already undergone their moisturizing treatment with Aleene’s Quick Dry Tacky Glue, which they found highly invigorating.

I think Ms. Sisterhood was a bit sorry that she didn’t choose the blue-green dress after all, because when it came time to choose a new accessory, this is what she wanted:

sisterhood-trim

I’ll spare you the photos of how this little trim came into being. Suffice it to say that it wasn’t a pretty sight!!

But Ms. Sisterhood was determined, and in the end, I think her perseverance paid off. Here’s the result from the front:

And here’s the result from the back:

sisterhood-back

And that brings to a close my very enjoyable visit with Ms. Sisterhood. Oh, except that she’ll always have a place of honor, on display on one of the lamps that stands beside my stitching chair.

Ms. Sisterhood has packed her bags!!

I have finished the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pattern (a.k.a. Waxing Moon’s “My Needle and My Floss”). Now our friendly world traveler is wondering where she’s headed next . . .
(Drawing info at end of this post.)

(Note: If you’re not familiar with the story of this traveling pattern, Lizzy has recorded the history of it here.)

Sister Sisterhood was a busy gal while she was here. She especially enjoyed shopping for a new dress, though I didn’t think she’d ever decide which color to get. She considered a cute little blue-green number, but in the end, she decided to stick with her signature color of pink. She did go for the snazzy striped skirt and some gray trimmings. A girl has to mix it up now and then, you know.

I’m not sure she liked my cooking, though. She seems to have dropped some weight. Her finished size is approximately 2.25 x 3 inches (or 5.7 x 7.6 cm). For comparison, she’s ever so slightly bigger than the tag on Gentle Arts Sampler Threads overdyed floss.

By the way, she really made herself at home at my house. I had invited her to stay for a week, but in truth, she arrived on March 6, and here it is March 15 and she’s still here!!

I hated to do it, but I finally had to give her an ultimatum: she can stay one more week while I wrangle an invitation for her to visit someone else. But then that’s it. I’m putting her on a plane and she’s outta here!

So c’mon, people! Is your guest room free right now? Can you spare a week (or so) to entertain a very affable traveler? Do you live in an exotic location with loads to see and do? Or perhaps it’s a quiet little town that’s tailor-made for relaxation and rejuvenation after a long trip.

Honestly, after spending time in the chilly midwestern U.S., she might like to visit warmer climes. But then again, she seems to be a very hardy traveler, so I’m guessing she’ll adapt no matter where she lands.

So spread the word, my fellow stitchers, that the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pattern needs a new (temporary) home. Shout it from the rooftops . . . or just mention it on your blog.

Here’s the info:

Leave a comment with your e-mail address on this post by Saturday, March 21, at midnight (U.S. Eastern Daylight Time) if you want Ms. Sisterhood to visit you next, and I’ll post the winner by the evening of Sunday, March 22. The winner must agree to stitch her, post the finish along with a history of her travels, then hold a drawing to send her on her way to the next stitcher.
