The Parklands-Turner Library staff cares about the education and well being of youth in our neighborhood. In support of scholastic achievement, library staff invite children ages 8 to 15 to visit the Parklands-Turner Library on Wednesdays after school for a unique study hall opportunity.
Each Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., library staff will establish a calm study environment called The Homework Zone in the children's room.
JobShop is something new at the Parklands-Turner Neighborhood Library.
If you need help creating your resume, preparing for an interview, or simply need help seeking new career opportunities, visit the Parklands-Turner Library every other Thursday from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. for assistance from the Parklands-Turner staff.

Come to the Parklands-Turner Library on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 5 - 6 p.m. and create a beautiful paper flower garden!
Parklands-Turner Library staff will provide the supplies: colorful cut out shapes, construction paper, and glue. All you need to do is let your creativity bloom and assemble the colorful pieces to make a beautiful garden to bring home and display in celebration of Spring!
If you enjoy playing games, then visit the Parklands-Turner Neighborhood Library on Thursday nights at 5:00 p.m. for Game Night!
Kids and teens will enjoy a variety of competitive games; from video games, to card games, to board games!
Every Thursday will feature a different type of game.

Children are encouraged to visit and read in the library, or check out the selected comics on display. Better still, kids can select any comic titles from any library across the city and have them delivered to Parklands-Turner, especially for you!
The Parklands-Turner Neighborhood Library has an assortment of amazing books that have been adapted into incredible blockbuster movies.
Every month, library staff will select a book that has been adapted into a film and displayi it all month long for your reading pleasure.
Read and enjoy the featured book of the month. At the end of each month, library staff will present the film adaptation on the big screen TV for your further enjoyment.
Come to a special story time with Real DC Firefighters!
Visit the Parklands Turner Library on Tuesday, April 4 at 10 a.m. and meet real firefighters! The fire fighters will talk to you about fire safety and show you their fire trucks!
A librarian will read stories about firefighters, fire safety, and fire trucks.
This story time is especially designed for children ages 3 and up.

All during the month of May, twenty seven young patrons of the Parklands-Turner Neighborhood Library were busy making paper kites and reading books, all in an effort to complete our kite contest giveaway reading contest to win real kites to take home and fly out in the fresh Spring air.

Are you excited about the Summer Olympics? Do you wish you could carry a flaming torch? The Library can't provide you with a real flaming torch, but we can help you to make a light-up pretend torch after preschool story time; and you can take your torch home with you!
As part of the Parklands-Turner Library Summer Reading Kickoff celebration from June 7 to June 10, all neighborhood preschool aged children are invited to participate in a special craft project following the 10:00 a.m. story time in the Children's area of the library on Tuesday, June 7.
Black Literature Book Club will meet on Tuesday, May 31 to discuss Okey Ndibe's novel, "Arrows of Rain". The meeting is at 2:00 p.m. Copies of the book are available at the circulation desk for members to checkout. There is still time for new members to join.

On selected days between July 6 and Aug. 14, The Parklands-Turner Neighborhood Library will host fun and exciting experiments and projects. Children and teens ages 8 to 16 should arrive in the children's room 3:30-5:30 p.m to participate.

Caring for an aging parent with Alzheimer's or a loved one struggling with cancer or a life-challenging illness can take an emotional, physical, and financial toll on a family. The Washington Home and Community Hospices in partnership with the D.C. Public Library will be hosting "Caring for Bedbound and Modbility Challenged Adults" an interactive program to empower caregivers in our communities with information and tips that can help provide the best possible care for a loved one who is homebound or bedbound.

Readings in Black Literature from the Library Catalog
For the Black Literature Book Club, the library hosts a librarian-led discussion where thoughtful sharing and insightful comments lead to even greater enjoyment of the selected title of the month.
