Cell Press is pleased to introduce a new format for reporting methods that replaces the Experimental Procedures and Supplemental Experimental Procedures. Our STAR Methods format (Structured, Transparent, Accessible Reporting) was introduced in the fall of 2016 and is now used in all Cell Press life science journals (Cell Reports will incorporate STAR Methods in 2018). The format reflects the changing needs of the scientific community for increased clarity and transparency in reporting of methods and analysis to foster improved rigor and reproducibility in research. Please note that it is not necessary that your manuscript adhere to the STAR Methods format at the time of submission. If your submission is accepted, your handling editor will work with you to format the Methods section.

Please contact your article's handling editor with any questions about reformatting your paper to accommodate the new STAR Methods section. If you have additional questions or comments about the new format, please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected]. We welcome your feedback!
