The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 3, 2014. Incumbent Paul Heroux was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Bert Buckley defeated Jeffrey Bailey in the Republican primary. Heroux defeated Buckley in the general election.^[4]

2012

Heroux initially declared to run in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Massachusetts' 4th District.^[5] He withdrew and instead ran for the state house.

Heroux won election in the 2012 election for Massachusetts House of Representatives Second Bristol District. Heroux defeated Stephen Vincent Kane in the Democratic primary for State House in the Second Bristol district and defeated incumbent George Ross (R) in the general election which took place on November 6.^[6]
