In 2017, five statewide ballot measures have been certified for the ballot in four states.

This article will provide an overview of all statewide ballot measures for the 2017 elections, as they become certified. In the typical odd-year election, an average of 45 statewide measures appear on ballots in roughly 10 states.

Typical number of measures

Going back to 1989, the average number of measures on the ballot in an odd-numbered year is 45. In the last decade, however, this average dropped to 35. The number of measures on the ballot in odd-numbered years peaked in 1999 at 72.
