How to buy Cloud Platform System Standard
Microsoft partners to deliver Cloud Platform System Standard as a turnkey solution. Hardware, support, and Azure services are purchased directly through HPE and DELL.
The software included in Cloud Platform System Standard is licensed through Microsoft Volume Licensing (VL). You may choose to use your existing licenses of Windows Server 2012 R2 and System Center 2012 R2, or purchase new licenses depending on your current software licensing position.
Azure services may also be optionally purchased with Cloud Platform System Standard. These services are add-ons to the basic software and, unless otherwise stated by the OEM partner, are sold separately.
Licensing overview and requirements
The following software must be licensed as part of Cloud Platform System Standard:
- Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter edition
- System Center 2012 R2 Datacenter edition
You must assign one license of Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter and one license of System Center 2012 R2 Datacenter per physical server in your Cloud Platform System Standard deployment. You may assign licenses you already own of the necessary software per the terms of your VL agreement with Microsoft or purchase new licenses.
If you need to acquire new licenses, Microsoft recommends one license of Core Infrastructure Suite (CIS) Datacenter per physical node. CIS Datacenter is a discounted way of acquiring Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter and System Center 2012 R2 Datacenter.
Windows Azure Pack is included as a free component of Cloud Platform System Standard.
