This is the first US edition of The Lime Works by Thomas Bernhard (Knopf, 1973).

I bought this book from Powells.com without seeing the cover illustration by Kurt A. Vargo [this guy?]. I haven't been this happy since the first edition of Jakob von Gunten arrived.

Can it be that The Lime Works is not in print? I hope this is a clerical error. (Update 9/9/2011: It has since been reprinted. This post first appeared in Dec. 2008.)
