Ubisoft is still working on Beyond Good & Evil 2
Even though it didn't show up at E3 this year
1Beyond Good & Evil 2 didn't make an appearance at Ubisoft's E3 event this year, but CEO Yves Guillemot took a minute to assure players the game is still in development during a chat with YouTube Live @ E3 host Geoff Keighley. "It's still on the way," said Guillemot in response to Keighley's question about its status. "It's something at one point you will see, yes... [developer] Michel [Ancel] is working on it, but he's doing two games at the same time, he's doing Wild at the same time. It's coming along, but he has to spend more time on it so we can see it faster."
That may not be the substantive response fans were hoping for, but it's a positive sign given just how long the game's been under construction. The sequel to 2003's cult fave Beyond Good & Evil was originally announced at a Ubisoft press conference in 2008, but it's been repeatedly delayed and pushed to the side in favor of other projects, even as Ancel and Guillemot have provided periodic updates on its status. Ancel confirmed he was still working on the game back in January, and Ubisoft applied for a new set of trademarks regarding the series in April. We may not see it in action this year, but it's never been easier to believe it's on the horizon.
