The 7 best game trailers from Ubisoft’s E3 2016 press event

Ubisoft's E3 press events are easy to laugh at. They feature weird band numbers, stilted corporate banter, and a barrage of groan-worthy humor. But they're also reliably stuffed with what E3 is theoretically all about: glossy trailers, surprise game announcements, extended gameplay demos. Goofy as the presentation may be, it knows how to get out of the way of the games.

Here are the seven best game trailers from Ubisoft's E3 2016 press event. Check out our E3 hub for all of this week's news.

Steep is Ubisoft's new extreme sports game, complete with "GoPro view"

Ubisoft's new original game is based on all the crazy mountain sports moments we watch more talented athletes do on YouTube. Steep is an open world sports game that lets you ski, snowboard, paraglide, and "fly" (via wingsuit) around the Alps and Alaska. Ubisoft released the first two trailers for the game, and it is gorgeous, both visually and aurally.

A big push in Steep is to share your moments and challenge others racing and doing tricks down the mountain. The paths you take can be...

Watch 11 minutes of Watch Dogs 2 featuring drones, hacking, and Mr. Robot vibes

Work on Watch Dogs 2 almost certainly began before Mr. Robot aired last year, but there’s no denying the similarities between the television show and the newly released gameplay. Set in San Francisco, the protagonist "hacks the system" by quite literally hacking various systems.

Of course, Watch Dogs 2 has the larger scale afforded to an action video game. The footage includes drones, gun battles, a runaway sport car, and a dude with LED hashtags for eyes. Watch Dogs 2 will be available on...

Watch LeVar Burton and other Star Trek alumni play Ubisoft's VR Star Trek game

A few days ago, word surfaced that Ubisoft's Red Storm division was making a virtual reality game based on Star Trek. Today, we got our first official look at the team-based space flight game, called Star Trek: Bridge Crew. Bridge Crew is supposed to be coming later this year to all major virtual reality platforms, but you can see it above played with an Oculus Rift, using Touch motion controllers. Watch 10 minutes of For Honor's brutal single-player campaign

Last E3, Ubisoft promoted the multiplayer mode for For Honor, a twist on the fighting genre that brought warriors from history onto the same battlefield. This E3, Ubisoft Creative Director Jason Vandenberghe introduced the single-player campaign, which appears to tell different stories from the perspectives of the game’s various classes, including samurai and vikings.

In a lengthy gameplay preview, vikings storm the beach of a samurai fortress. Flaming projectiles drop from the sky as a...

How to watch Ubisoft’s E3 2016 press conference

This may be the first Ubisoft E3 press conference in years to not feature an entry in the Assassin's Creed series. That doesn’t mean there won’t be plenty of new games. We expect Watch Dogs 2 and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands to take up a considerable portion of the stage time — much of it simply saying the full tittle Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands. We haven’t heard much of For Honor since last E3; we predict a single-player campaign trailer is in the cards.

    And because it’s...
