
Eric is the founder and CEO of Stone Temple Consulting. A prominent SEO, content marketing, and digital marketing industry thought leader, he has been an entrepreneur for most of his 30+ year career.
Eric founded the digital marketing agency Stone Temple Consulting (STC), which grew from a solo consultancy to a 70+-employee agency serving many Fortune 500 clients.

In 2009 Eric partnered with Rand Fishkin, MOZ Founder, Stephan Spencer, and Jessie Stricchiola, and became the lead author for The Art of SEO. The book, now in its third edition, is widely used as a textbook for many university courses. In addition to the book, Eric maintains columns on Search Engine Land and Moz, and publishes frequently on the STC blog. He regularly publishes groundbreaking SEO and social media research studies that have been cited by The Washington Post, Fast Times, The Daily Mail, and many other top publications. These studies are conceived by Eric, and he leads the analysis work personally.

Eric was selected to be the instructor for part of the University of California / Coursera SEO Specialization program. This course enables students to obtain a certificate in SEO. Eric also donates his time to Northeastern University’s entrepreneurship program, where he mentors recent graduates in their start-up efforts.
