It's just the Mexican flag without the eagle on it...
They were still developing their ballistic missiles, which would be how they carry the nuclear warhead, and then they would be been able to restart their nuclear program in 2025, but with billions of dollars. Did you see the whole floor of the Iranian Senate burning a flag and chanting "Death to America", as a response? That's not the actions of moderates, which is what Obama claimed the Iranian government is. They are using US money from the deal to sponsor terrorism in the Middle East.
Iranian Senate burning a flag and chanting "Death to America"
I mean, seeing as the Iranian Senate was disbanded in 1979, I don't think we have to worry about them.
The Iranian Parliament did indeed chant, burn a flag, and directly threaten Trump. It's almost like being fucked over has made them angry for some reason. They definitely weren't chanting before Trump's decision (ok, not recently at least). If the deal falls through with the other partners as well, they'll restart their enrichment programs, but for now they're hoping the deal holds.
How is that in anyway the reaction of a government we should be giving billions of dollars in aid too? It's supposed to be a deal, not a bribe.
After almost 4 decades of animosity between the two countries, followed by a brief glimmer of hope before the rug is pulled from under them, I don't see the reaction as extreme. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I condone it, but I can understand it.
The deal was ultimately a step towards normalized relations between Iran and the 'West'. These relations would've come with a certain sense of security, especially for a country that has been on the opposing side so many times. Without the normalization of these relations, Iran will fall back to it's previous plan for security, the same plan North Korea undertook. They will develop nukes. It's the only solid security they can get in the face of Western aggression.
In that case I can say I also understand the plan to restart their enrichment programs (assuming the deal falls through with the other partners). While I definitely disagree with the regime, humans don't want to face potential oblivion every waking moment. We as a species will do just about anything to survive.
You can “learn how to learn things” without college...
You can learn the ins and outs of nuclear physics without going to school, but it's a helluva lot easier in a structured program designed towards that goal.
Yeah even as a ritual Illusory Script is garbage, I can't imagine what sort of contrived situation you'd have to be for it to actually be useful at all.
I had a player with a note from the local lord saying they could use some of the weapons in the armoury. As soon as they left the lord's hall the note said that they were acting on the lord's command, and any request they made should be seen as a request directly from the lord.
Definitely anecdotal, but these niche spells can really fuck with a DM
City planning.
Just thinking of what would be in a city, where it would be, etc.
So I started my latest campaign in a city. Improving, but I mostly improvise whatever shop the player is looking for. And then forget about it. And then when they try to return to it, it's been burned down (part of an actual plot that turned out to be convenient for me).
I'm good at keeping track of those random, imrpoved shops for a short time, but I never take notes on them. Invariably the party will always end up in the same region, and remember the details with inhuman precision while I'm struggling to remember anything about it.
He's worth digging into.
His style changes with each album, he's said from the beginning he doesn't want to just do the same thing over and over again and he just loves a challenge.
Not music related: but he's worth seeing in Community, and Atlanta which he also writes, I really enjoyed his standup comedy special, I have 0 hopes for the Han Solo movie, but I'm gonna guess that he'll be a highlight.
His small role in The Martian is also notable, just because it's uniquely different from everything else he's done (except maybe the Community episode when he and Abed switch bodies).
She couldn't. most of this 'illusion' isn't makeup, it's done in post to artificially bring down the color to 'appear' black.
then there are other cgi tricks. note how they didn't do well picking up or setting the glass down. rather newbie trick IMO.
send this to captain dissolution :)
still good though, just not as good as they pretend
The glass really ruined it for me. Not only is the transition clunky, you can't see her fingers anywhere on it.

Pretty much liberated The city of Zwolle by himself and prevented it from being bombed.

Honestly, we like to think that the guys who fought the Nazis were just the bravest and most righteous, but the fact is that your general inclination to violence played a big part. A lot of resistance forces killed each other, killed personal rivals, killed loosely defined "cooperators" in hasty extra judicial executions who never would have been sentenced to such by a fair process, etc.
Not to put them on the same level, but we can kind of see this with contemporary movements resistances, like in Syria or Libya.
Also, none of this should take away from the heroism of the real heroes in the European Resistances. If anything, it increases it. Its not even as if a resistance hero was safe among other members of the resistance.
I agree with you completely but I think it's important to distinguish the fact that these movements are usually born from other, more legitimate reasons. However these movements laregely attract and appeal to violent people.
I'm not sure what your first point about memory wiping has to do with the rest of your post with Real Beth saving the day from E Morty. Could you expand a little?
I believe he's referring to the family's turned affections. In the beginning of the season the family ditches Jerry for Rick without a second thought. By the end of the season Rick seems to be the outsider, and it looks like it pains him.
Presumably he could wipe the elapsed time from their memories, and revert back to a point where they revered him. But instead he didn't, and may have even let the Real Beth leave him.
We arrived at the theater totally baked and thought we were going to see Dune, which was playing in at least two of the cinema pods. So the first 20 minutes or so of Tremors was spent going, "Wait, what? I don't remember that from the books."
"When will somebody ride the fucking sandworm?"
Now I need a video
It's pretty simple, just turn left at this point and jump to the other side of the broken bridge. It's the fastest path to the point, if you don't fuck up the jumps.
Politics. I'm a political scientist.
I am aware of how little I know. I fill in the gaps in my knowledge with answers that will never be completely satisfying. There is always more to learn.
It's common for people who know the least pretend to know the most. They want you to think that complicated topics that are full of nuance are actually really simple. This can happen, but most of the time it's nonsense. They think they have all of the answers because they listen to this person or that news source. They are wrong. Ideologies can contain some good ideas, but when there is an attempt for practical application these ideologies are largely trash.
It's also rare that you'll get anything approaching truth from sources that are heavily curated. What you're being fed is an agenda for you to buy into. On some stories the media is fairly good. On others it is largely silent. Still others there are basically agreements not to talk about stuff in certain lights at all.
At the same time, people screaming about fake news wouldn't know what real news was, how to find it or believe that it was real if confronted with it because it flies in the face of their preexisting biases. Many people don't want to be educated. They want to be reassured that their world view is correct.
They want you to think that complicated topics that are full of nuance are actually really simple.
Beware the man offering simple solutions to complex problems
I have Bob's Burgers going on the TV, and the song playing goes really well with this gif. For best results start the gif when the video is at 0:27.
“Do you know what today is, my little one?” Imhotep pressed a kissed to Alex’s cheek. Alexander smiled through the foggy haze of post-sleep. He rolled over onto his side to face his lover. Returning his lover’s kiss, Alex loved how easily he fit with Imhotep. It was stupid and cliché but they were like puzzle pieces that meant to be together.
“It’s the anniversary of the day we got together.” The young blonde replied. He felt his Egyptian lover pull away to nuzzle his nose against Alex’s who returned the action.
“Three years,” Imhotep murmured, pulling away so the two were laying in bed together.
“And the rest of the eternity if you have anything to say about it.” Alex added cheekily earning a slight chuckle from his elder lover.
“The world has bowed on its knees to me, soon so will the Gods.”
...
There were a lot of things that Rick O’Connell didn’t like about his son’s partner. He didn’t like that Imhotep had kidnapped Evy and tried to kill her. Or that Imhotep had tried to kill his Brother-in-law Jonathan. He didn’t like that the man-mummy had tried to take over the world twice. Twice for god’s sake! Or that the man-mummy was proof of everything that Rick didn’t particularly like to acknowledge despite his own Medjai connection.
He didn’t mind that his son was gay, or bi or whatever. Alex could be with whoever made him happy, but did it have to be that monster Imhotep?
Then again, Rick thought as he stood in the doorway to the living room where he saw Alex curling up with Imhotep convincing him to try Hot Chocolate Imhotep had been unbearably loyal to Anck-Su-Namun. If he had risked life and limb to be with her, and broke the rules of life and death just to be with her.
Well, Rick thought with a smile, who knows what he would do for Alex?
...
Imhotep could never bare to see Alexander interacting with anyone else for long. Even though he reasonably knew he couldn’t keep Alex only to himself, it still created a seed of anger that Imhotep had to keep from growing.
If he could, Imhotep would keep Alexander to their rooms. Specifically, to their bed, with a golden collar to tie him down. Let his treasure relax and lay on satin pillows and silks. The wind wafting through their large chambers windows. He would worship Alexander like a God- so would all the people of their Kingdoms.
He’d only give his treasure the best things to wear, gold and silver. Gems and coral from the deepest recesses of the Earth. Only silks for the few times he’d let Alex out of their chambers.
If only Alex could be only his to see, to be around, to be worshipped by. If only it didn’t break his treasure.
...
“What are you doing?” Alexander hissed, his eyes slits.
“Trying to send this monster back into hell, Alex!” His Father grunted in reply, continuing his attack on Imhotep. His Egyptian Lover continued to only fend off and defend himself from Rick’s attack.
Alex’s mother, Evy probably wasn’t too far off. The book of Life likely with her, open and ready to send Imhotep back into the Underworld.
“You fool!” Imhotep roared when the Osiris Staff from decades ago stabbed his arm earning a startled angry scream from Alex. He was finally able to struggle out of Jonathon’s grasp- surprisingly Adrath wasn’t here but he was likely on his way.
Rick O’Connell had the staff raised above Imhotep who was struggling to stand. There had to be something about the staff that was poisoning the Ancient Priest.
Before the western Medjai could end the Mummy for the third time, Alexander ran to shield his lover from his Father’s wrath.
“Stop!”
Rick hesitated, confusion dancing over his features. Jonathon yelling behind him for Alex to move.
“This is who I was telling you about! The guy from your past who’d changed?”
Realization came over the adventurer’s face like the rising sun in the Desert.
“Oh, for Fuck’s sake.”
...
“You’ll never take this off, my pet.” Imhotep murmured, fingering the thick golden collar around Alex’s neck. Alex frowned at the older man, the chain connected to his collar was wrapped around Imhotep’s hand. Everything shone in the golden Egyptian Sun.
“I think I’ll keep you here,” the Priest murmured, pulling the chained teenager closer to him. After so long of being with forced to only be in the company of Imhotep, Alex was slowly breaking. How could he not?
The blonde settled atop his Master’s lap. His legs jingled with the bangles on his ankles, gemstones adding onto the weight. He’d struggled with the heavy jewelry Imhotep made him wear constantly- but now it was familiar. His collar was almost even becoming a weird kind of security blanket. He wouldn’t know what he would do without his Master’s touch.
Strong hands rested on his narrow hips, the soft silk dress he wore hitched upward above Imhotep’s hands.
“I love you, my little one.”
“I love you too, Master.”
I almost convinced myself to stop reading three different times.
Now I want more.
Well how the English laws are written the queen has all the power and allows parliment to rule. Legally she could dissolve Parliament but practically I'd a different story.
I once heard someone talking about this say that she could exert her power over parliament in such a way at any time, but only once. The backlash would almost inevitably cause the next parliament to rewrite the system and abolish the monarchy completely.
Rumor has it that their nuclear facilities have been compromised, perhaps irreparably so.
It's possible that they know they've lost so much progress that they'll be vulnerable long enough to be deposed. It's possible he's not willing to call the US's bluff, because Trump is just crazy enough to possibly invade. It's possible that they've been crumbling for years and he's now coming to terms with it. Either way, he sees it ideal to remove aggression from the table.
Edit: since I've received so many comments suggesting that the rumor is false, I should re-emphasize that it is a rumor. I've seen reasonably trustworthy sources arguing that it's true and that it's false. If it is true, it would be potentially significant, and since this is a speculative comment to begin with, it is worth mentioning.
It's possible that they know they've lost so much progress that they'll be vulnerable long enough to be deposed.
You've got to remember that a nuclear-capable North Korea is quite new, and that they were able to go through five decades without being deposed.
A big reason for this is that the nuclear arsenal is just the tip of a much larger and more devastating force. It was projected back in the 90's that between NK's chemical weapons, conventional artillery, and covert agents that any attack carried out by them would cause millions of casualties in South Korea and Japan.
That's not to say that they would win any such war, just that any attempt to depose the Kim family would come with a heavy cost. That's why the North Korean regime has gone so long without being toppled. They've walked on a knife's edge since 1953, and have grown pretty damn good at it.
A nation is the sum of it peoples.
And the American nation includes Puerto Ricans so...
Are all Indians British people because England owned them once?
They were definitely de facto citizens of the British empire at the time when they were taxed, governed, and even issued passports by the British government, much the same way Puerto Rico is now under American rule (with the notable distinction that Puerto Ricans are officially U.S. citizens).
Hawaii is also an island far from mainland America, and the overwhelming share of debt Puerto Rico has can be directly attributed to the U.S. federal government and it's position as a territory.

tbh Xi has always been "President for life", if we look at historical precedence, none of the Communist Chinese leaders were replaced unless they died or some power struggle occurs. If anything, the new proclamation cement the presidency as the office of authority instead of other positions.
Xi's predecessor Hu wasn't ousted, he willingly resigned when his term limit came to an end. Similarly, while there was some conflict between Hu and his predecessor Jiang, especially after Hu assumed office, Jiang seems to have stepped down (or was encouraged to) because of his age.

Do the joints in the fossil of a crab still work? If I, hypothetically, had the ability to reanimate the dead, would a crab army be my best bet for world domination? Could a reanimated ancient crab use a firearm? Could I use it to get my pizza so I can avoid interacting with the pizza guy? What other tasks could zombie crabs do?
Are you okay?

As long as he doesn't usher a nuclear apocalypse, it's damn hilarious from outside the US.
You've got your head in the sand if you think the only way the US can effect the world is through nukes. From trade agreements like NAFTA, to the Paris Climate Accord, to the solidarity of NATO, and so much more, the US is a world leader and can impact lives on a global scale.
War and Peace is my fap material.
And a whole page is just overkill.
was damavand the one where you had to jump off of the cliff to attack on i think the third base? before the tunnel? i loved that map
Hell yeah, equal fun as an attacker taking that leap, and as a defender trying to shoot the enemies as they come crashing down.
So many maps were perfectly designed for the rush game mode, which I actually grew to love more than the classic conquest since it made for such insane battles around the objectives.
There were a couple of hardcore rush servers on Xbox that required you to have a mic set to team chat. That was some of the best gaming I've ever had.
Since we were all coordinating, we could do stuff like having all of the squad leaders pile into a heli, get over the objective and bail. Then as they were falling the other 12 players (16v16 max sadly) would spawn off them, and the entire team would storm one M-COM.
When DMs make every single encounter a fight to the death. Like, those random bandits we bumped into on the side of the road aren't going to give their lives if they're obviously going to lose. They'll run, re-group, rest and (get) reinforcements. Or they'll retire and retry their bandit-y ways somewhere where they won't bump into powerful wizards and fighters.
On the flip side as a DM I hate when the players will chase down each and every fleeing enemy, because the battle isn't over till there all dead. Let a wolf slink back into the woods every now and again instead of pursuing it till the end of the earth, you don't need 50 xp that badly.
What I do is I give them the XP even though they didn't kill the enemy; they beat it, and it knew it was beaten, so they deserve the reward.
My current party actually does milestones. They get nothing from it, but if you're not first you're last, and if every enemy isn't dead you've lost.
For a group of very experienced players who have played their character this might work, but I wouldn't do this with people who are new to their characters or especially to the game. So I wouldn't really call this a usual situation, because I think most games will have at least one or two "newbies." I think it's reasonable to ask people to minimize the amount of hemming and hawing on their turn but also understand that it is a game with hundreds of pages of rules on top of the fact that you as a DM might interpret those rules differently. I think most of the people I watch play the game, and I would call them fairly experienced players, take at least a minute or two if they are doing anything other than just attacking.
Not to mention as the players get more experienced, so do the characters. So now instead of moving/attacking they have multiple attacks to make, a bonus action to take, a reaction to interrupt the enemies turn, and legendary actions to interrupt there turn.
I'm not saying each turn should last 10 minutes, but if they're only taking 30 seconds your players aren't utilizing all of their tools.

To bad the debuff from Reddit cancels that.
