Years before landing the role of Scarlett O’Connor on the prime-time television series Nashville and launching her career as a singer-songwriter, Clare Bowen grew up in rural Australia, miles from the nearest city, writing down everything she felt, heard, saw and dreamed.

ASCAP will continue to license public performances of Clarkson's extensive songwriting catalog throughout the world, including the US chart-toppers “A Moment Like This,” “My Life Would Suck Without You” and “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You).”

The awards celebration, which honors the songwriters and publishers of ASCAP’s most performed country songs of 2015, will take place at the historic Ryman Auditorium in downtown Nashville on October 31st.

So when showrunner Cheo Coker needed a score for the new Netflix series Marvel's Luke Cage, he brought in A Tribe Called Quest's Ali Shaheed Muhammad and musical iconoclast Adrian Younge for a blend of vintage funk, '90s hip-hop and soul that sounds like nothing else on TV.

Songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Greg Kurstin has had his hand in creating such massive hits as Adele’s “Hello,” Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You),” Ellie Goulding’s “Burn,” Beck's "Dreams" and Sia’s “Chandelier.”

The two-day creative session, led by Marc Anthony and sponsored in part by the ASCAP Foundation, brought together an impressive group of established and up-and-coming songwriters of all music genres.

The team will harness ASCAP’s rich data and other assets to make ASCAP’s music licensing, royalty collection and distribution processes more transparent and efficient for members and licensees.

Lionel Richie has renewed his agreement with ASCAP for representation of public performances of his song catalog. The multi-award winning singer and songwriter wrote numerous radio hits, including pop and R&B classics “Dancing on the Ceiling,” “All Night Long,” "We Are the World" (with Michael Jackson) and many more.
