The event honors women in all facets of the entertainment business including singers, songwriters, managers, attorneys, label executives and music publishers.

Luke Cage isn't your average onscreen superhero. So when showrunner Cheo Coker needed a score for the new Netflix series Marvel's Luke Cage, he brought in A Tribe Called Quest's Ali Shaheed Muhammad and musical iconoclast Adrian Younge for a blend of vintage funk, '90s hip-hop and soul that sounds like nothing else on TV.

On Friday, August 19th, ASCAP Atlanta held its quarterly "Check It Out" series at SPACE Studio in Atlanta, GA. This edition featured Grammy Award Winning Producer and Songwriter, Henny da Bizness, along with Bangvillage / Universal Records A&R’s Andre Williams and Michael Fontaine.

Malik Taylor, the rapper who contributed to the influential 90's Hip hop group A Tribe Called Quest as Phife Dog, died yesterday at the age of 45. Born and raised in Jamaica, Queens, Taylor met his childhood best friend, longtime musical collaborator and bandmate, Q-Tip, at age 2.

Daryl Coley, one of gospel music's most beloved male vocalists, passed away on March 15th at the age of 60. The unique beauty of his voice and his ability to synthesize many genres and styles in his work earned him exceptional admiration.
