Sunrise at the Dark Hedges
Yesterday morning we visited the beech alley "The Dark Hedges“ as part of my photo workshop in Northern Ireland. Cameras were mounted on the tripods in the early morning dawn and possible image compositions were discussed. When the rising sun then wrapped the old trees in a beautiful morning light, we took photographs like this.

The season of abundance
Nagarahole Tiger Reserve, Karnataka, India
Without rain this gorgeous landscape would have been brown, parched and bland, and the watchful dhole almost impossible to see unless moving.
During the monsoon it has become a beautiful garden with flowers and fresh shoots from all the plant species residing here.
I have previously avoided visiting during the monsoon as it is a challenge logistically in many ways, and as such almost all national parks are closed during the wet season. But also the monsoon is the time of leeches, and they come at you from above and below and are in some places a very tough and annoying thing to tackle.
Leeches or not, I have become totally hooked on everything monsoon, as the green makes the most delicious frame to any living creature, but also all the otherwise hidden waterways are swollen and absolutely stunning.

very beautiful
Half Dome
A photo from two weeks ago when I was in Yosemite. The sky was totally clear and I never saw a cloud. That makes for tough conditions for landscape photos since clouds are what make great light. So, I worked with the light as best I could and watched sunset here as the light crept up the walls of the mighty Half Dome with its reflection in the Merced River.

Skógafoss Waterfall in Iceland
Skógafoss is a waterfall situated on the Skógá River in the south of Iceland at the cliffs of the former coastline. After the coastline had receded seaward (it is now at a distance of about 5 kilometres (3.1 miles) from Skógar), the former sea cliffs remained, parallel to the coast over hundreds of kilometres, creating together with some mountains a clear border between the coastal lowlands and the Highlands of Iceland.
The Skógafoss is one of the biggest waterfalls in the country with a width of 25 metres (82 feet) and a drop of 60 m (200 ft). Due to the amount of spray the waterfall consistently produces, a single or double rainbow is normally visible on sunny days.
