Glossybox January 2013

_DSC1463

It’s been a week since my last box and I was going through withdrawal!  Thankfully the Glossybox (referral link) came today.  After I subscribed to PopSugar, Hammock Pack, BirchBox, Ipsy, Goodies Co, I thought I could stop there…  BUT, I saw the spoilers for this box and I couldn’t resist.  I really wanted to try the nail polish and I was curious about the Le Metier solution.  The subscription is $21/month so it comes in the mid range of my subscriptions.

This is my first Glossybox and I was so impressed with the packaging – so cute!

But can you see the ‘ugly naked guy’?

A little background on me.  I love love love love love TV.  And I love floor plans.  Seriously – not making it up.  I used to play Sims mostly so I can build their houses.  So today when I found this link, I was so fascinated I had to share.

Artists sketch floorplan of Friends apartments and other famous TV shows

How awesome is this??!  From two of my favorite shows…

And now I know what my lotto life goal is – a circular house!!  I love natural window light and can you imagine how much perfect lighting you’d get with those windows?

Subscription Box List

So I went a little overboard subscribing to everything during the holidays on my couple days off…  This is what happens when all my friends/family are in LA but I’m here in Orlando because of my job – I have to be there Mondays for payroll and because Christmas and New Year’s Day were on Tuesdays, it wouldn’t make sense to take a short trip back home.

Here are the boxes I’ve subscribed to: (referral links)

  • PopSugar Must Have Box – $35/month
  • Ipsy – $10/month… also bought a friend a 3 month subscription to this for Christmas
  • Hammock Pack – $30/month
  • Glossybox – $21/month
  • Birchbox – $10/month… took a while to get off the wait list though!
  • Goodies Co – $7/month… finally got off the wait list also
  • Klutchclub Box – bought the best of box from Daily Candy for $13 (regularly$25) and it was amazing!  Haven’t cancelled the subscription yet but I intend to…  $18/month

I also bought gift subscriptions of Craft Coffee and Goodies Co for my brother and Love with Food for a friend.

Wow.  I need to stop.

Birchbox January 2013

Big mail day yesterday!!  I also got my first Birchbox (referral link) in the mail, even though I wasn’t expecting it until Thursday. I found out a couple days ago I was getting box #26, which people on the Makeup Talk forums were referring to as the ‘punishment’ box…  Oh well, I was just excited to get off the waiting list.  The theme of the box is Best Year Ever…  Here are the contents of my box:

Klutchclub Best of Box January 2013

_DSC1399

I saw this deal on Daily Candy Deals a couple weeks ago just as I was getting into my subscribing phase and of course I couldn’t resist.  The Klutchclub Best of Box is normally $25 ($17 + $8 shipping) and Daily Candy offered it for $13.  I have heard good things about Klutchclub, but coming from someone who hasn’t worked out in a long time even though the gym is 1 floor down from her apartment, I didn’t know if I would really use the stuff.  I know I SHOULD but should and would are worlds apart 🙂

I was shocked at how much they packed into the box!!

St Ives Lotion

I got the St. Ives Oatmeal & Shea Butter Lotion for free (!) two weeks ago from the PopSugar Sample Squad and although I was not expecting that when the cute UPS guy knocked on my door, it was a nice surprise.  I got the Olay Wipes a couple weeks ago from the Sample Squad and they only gave us 2 individually wrapped wipes so I was shocked this one was so big!

I finally made a point to use it last weekend in my “use as many samples as possible” mindset.  Most of the lotions I buy (and hardly use) are from Bath & Body Works or Body Shop.  Surprisingly, I liked this one better than the ones from those places.  I even like it a little better than the Pacifica Blood Orange body butter I got last week from Ipsy.  The reason I don’t use lotions much is because I hate that greasy sticky feeling I get from most lotions but I got none of that here.  My skin absorbed the lotion quickly and felt so nice and smooth afterwards.

John Frieda Clear Shine

Sometime last year I bought the Allure Beauty Box, got the items and just put them away…  The best shopping is definitely in your own cabinets and closets I guess!  I decided to try the John Frieda Clear Shine glaze today.  I’m lucky because I have nice straight Asian hair and my hair is pretty shiny already even with all the coloring I’ve done to it.

The conclusion – I didn’t notice my hair being shinier but it is definitely so much softer with more volume.  I’ll definitely make a point to use the rest of the bottle.
