Paws for thought
13 December is Lucia – one of my favourite times of year.
Lucia is all about children dressed in white and carrying candles
To symbolize hope and light in the darkness.

The dawn that day didn’t disappoint either.
It blazed with light and colour,
So that dogs (and people) seemed small and humble
Under the huge lilac sky;

And paw prints were etched across a purple
Canopy of snow – leading the eye
To that glorious sky of hope.

Of lilac and gold
When the dawn is ablaze in lilac
And the rising sun paints the treetops gold…
The result is just breath-taking!
(I have a crazy busy week ahead of me
So won’t be around much.)

Pink heaven
As the temperatures drop,
The colours in the sky intensify.

When the ice reflects back
The perfection of a pink and lilac dawn,

You know you’re lucky enough
To be enjoying a slice of heaven.

In the pink
As the sun was rising in gorgeous pink tones,
The bare trees of November and the frosted ground
Cast beautiful reflections on the lake.

There is so much beauty
In the minimalism of a buoy stuck in ice

And a float to keep us anchored
In case we fly away on the dreaminess of the
Stunning pink dawn.

Big snow, cold feet
After our huge snowfall last week, I thought it would be fun
To fight my way through snowdrifts to capture
The snow-laden clouds.

The snow was up to my thighs.
My feet got cold as it seeped into my boots.

The bench seemed a good place to
Contemplate the horizon
And enjoy the view.

Cloud swirls
The world changes so rapidly.
Only last week, it was beautiful autumn
And time for swimming in clouds.

The ripples of our actions
Have far-reaching effects,
So it’s wise to act with kindness.

Even a misty and cloudy sunrise
Brings hope and beauty.

Pumpkin skies
Two autumn sunrises:
One blazing across the sky as dogs frolic in the early morning;

The other breathing serenity
In gorgeous light.

Lilac wonder
Autumn makes me rich
As it leaves its golden coins on the shore of the lake.

Misty pastel pinks
Blend with lilac clouds and autumn trees.
I stand in awe and drink in the wonder.

Implausibly pink perfection
Dawn blushes
And tinges everything pink:

As the sun rises
We enjoy a moment of rose-tinted serenity.

The view from my new part of the lake
Is simply stunning on an early morning, don’t you think?

Misty beauty
Sunrise and it’s the autumn equinox:
The lake is still and beautiful
With rising mist in shades of pink.

The moon admires itself in the water –
Reflecting brightly like a silver penny.
(I’ve forgotten my big camera —
But as the saying goes, “The best camera is the one you have with you.”)
