Deep purple
One morning in late November,
Just as the ice was forming on the lake,
The houses on the far shore were lit up like a necklace of lights.

One in particular was ablaze —
What a glorious view it must be from those windows!

The sun rose slowly
Turning the world into a tapestry of lilacs and pinks,
Stitched together with clouds.

Light burst
If the sky could be a musical instrument —
It would be a trumpet burst of light.
Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season
Full of light and joy and love.

Paws for thought
13 December is Lucia – one of my favourite times of year.
Lucia is all about children dressed in white and carrying candles
To symbolize hope and light in the darkness.

The dawn that day didn’t disappoint either.
It blazed with light and colour,
So that dogs (and people) seemed small and humble
Under the huge lilac sky;

And paw prints were etched across a purple
Canopy of snow – leading the eye
To that glorious sky of hope.

Pink heaven
As the temperatures drop,
The colours in the sky intensify.

When the ice reflects back
The perfection of a pink and lilac dawn,

You know you’re lucky enough
To be enjoying a slice of heaven.

The drama of the grey
Novembers past speak of old jetties reaching out
To embrace the drama and gentleness of grey.

Big snow, cold feet
After our huge snowfall last week, I thought it would be fun
To fight my way through snowdrifts to capture
The snow-laden clouds.

The snow was up to my thighs.
My feet got cold as it seeped into my boots.

The bench seemed a good place to
Contemplate the horizon
And enjoy the view.

Cloud swirls
The world changes so rapidly.
Only last week, it was beautiful autumn
And time for swimming in clouds.

The ripples of our actions
Have far-reaching effects,
So it’s wise to act with kindness.

Even a misty and cloudy sunrise
Brings hope and beauty.

Pumpkin skies
Two autumn sunrises:
One blazing across the sky as dogs frolic in the early morning;

The other breathing serenity
In gorgeous light.

Implausibly pink perfection
Dawn blushes
And tinges everything pink:

As the sun rises
We enjoy a moment of rose-tinted serenity.

The view from my new part of the lake
Is simply stunning on an early morning, don’t you think?

September swim
September has been magically warm.
One evening, my daughter and I went down to the lake
For a sunset swim.

The dogs dived in for joy
While the sun cast its orange glow
On water and stone.
