Who am I?
So, you want to know who I am? Well, you’ll get a pretty good idea from reading my blog. But, in brief:
A Brit living in Sweden since 1996. Came here as a so-called love immigrant.
Have got two small kids and good supply of ear plugs.
Husband is like a third child and the dog is like the fourth.
Blessed with an ironic sense of humour.
Scriptwriter, textbook writer and translator (Swedish into English).
THINGS YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT ME:
I used to peel bananas with my feet. (In recent years, you’ll be relieved to hear, my toes have become less agile so I have had to give up this party trick.)

I’ve got eyes at the back of my neck.

I lose my keys several times a day.

Learnt to speak Chinese, but have now forgotten it all. Swedish is my second language (after English) these days.
Collector of exotic diseases: dengue fever, amoebic dysentery, giardia, and many, many generations of worms – not once, but twice in as many years!

This is my first visit too, and I am astounded and amazed- those photos are too cool (heehee)

LadyFi,
I think you might consider “FirefLi” for a handle . . . your site is delightful.
I am intrigued by Zusak’s The Book Thief. It just got added to my summer list.
Have you read Terry Pratchett’s Reaper Man? Death gets fired, “gets a life,” and gets romantically involved. It’s an incredible love story woven into two other story lines. On my teacher website http://www.EnglishIsNotForSissies.org I have the pages for that story line ticked out.

Thank you Lady Fi for your comment on my blog, much appreciated. You asked if Kimberley has snow at this time of year – I don’t imagine so! The picture was taken four years ago during the month of April and the snow had already receded quite a bit by then. The town of Kimberely is quaint and has an alpine theme about it. I would love to visit there during winter sometime. YOou have an interesting blog – thank you so much for sharing. I am new to the blogging world and still finding my way around here! It’s fun. I was curious what it would take to get a text link on your blog saying something like “Tungsten Wedding Bands” or “Tungsten Wedding Rings” with a hyperlink to our site (www.superiorweddingrings.com). We are a relatively new company and we are currently trying to improve our page ranking on Google. We operate on a small budget, and we would be more than willing to give you a tungsten ring from our site in exchange for a link. Let me know if this would be something that you would be interested in. Thanks for any help you can give us.

Hello, I came across your photo titled “I’ve finally found my balls” with a boxer twisted like a pretzel. It’s hilarious! I am a Boxer nut and am working on an informational website about Boxers. The site will serve to help people determine if the Boxer is the right dog for them. I love the breed and don’t want to see any of them abandoned or left in pounds. I am asking your permission to put this picture on my website. The web site is free and not for profit. If you are okay with it, would you want me to put your credit on the picture?

The “collector of exotic diseases” rang a few bells, too, although mine aren’t as exotic as yours (I think I’m glad). In fact, one chapter of my book (i.e., at the moment, my blog) mentions “Kay’s collection of illnesses” or words to that effect.
Thanks for visiting my curassow and chachalaca critters today!

Hi Lady Fi!
So pleased that you dropped by my wee bit of a blog centering around my beloved Sophie, the Labradoodle. She is 4 years old now. Last year after a bit of coaxing I started this adventure of blogging her ‘pretty much’ everyday adventures. Such a great outlet for any creative minded person/dog!
I live in Nova Scotia, Canada along the North Atlantic across ‘the pond’ from you. We spend plenty of our waking hours either on a beach or in a garden. Sophie brings us great joy and peace. Labradoodles are plentiful around here so we see a variety of mixes a lot. I love their temperament with the silliness of a Lab and Poodle stoicism.
I hope this gives you a slight idea of our world and do not hesitate to follow by adding yourself to the followers list below my header picture(which I change all the time because I need to be creating all the time)
Cheers! from Ron…one of Sophie’s dads

Hi/bonjour from Toulouse, France! Glad to have come across your super-blog… I’ll try to “surf” over as much as possible… Last but not least: I love Scandinavia, I have Swedish and British neighbors – all wonderful people and my son speaks(and writes!) Chinese&Japanese! 🙂 Small world, especially in our “old Europe”… 🙂 My very best, have a great day and tons of inspiration… Warm greetings from “la ville rose-brique”! 🙂 Mélanie

Hello! What a lovely blog. I came across a picture of children’s hands raised under your summer post from June 2010. I would love to use that picture for a web-site I’m creating for a Children’s Worship Choir. However, I cannot find it in your redbubble site. Is it available?
Thank you so much for your help!

Well, Mick sent me here (and I see preceded my visit with another of his own as well), and I’m delighted to have landed at your doorstep. Gorgeous photography and wonderful, descriptive and evocative writing. And you’re living one of my greatest dreams, having immigrated to Sweden, by the way. This, even though my ancestry’s all Norwegian! 😉 Cheeky American that I am. I am glad to have had your beautiful blog introduced to me and will look forward to many more visits!

Hello Fi, I couldn’t find an E-mail for you, so I’ll comment here. You mentioned you have Lightroom on your wish list. I’m finding it easy to use, though i’m sure I’ve just scratched the surface. There are some good on-line tutorials for it. I like the Adobe ones the best. I used Apples’s Aperture editing program previously. I notice in your bio that you do textbook writing. I used to do that, too, when I was still working. I was also a teacher. I saw a golden romping in the river today, chasing a stick. I actually thought of Oscar.

I did not find you entire list of exotic diseases but I can brag that I had Chigoe and Cutaneous Larva Migrans.
