It was wonderful sitting kitchenside on our trip to Baskeri & Basso on 28 November. This cozy little eatery is tucked into an alley between Eria & Punavuori, but the beautiful painted logos helped us find the entrance. The sous-chef was not leaving any detail to chance as he prepped dishes beside us, which was great to watch. Nicholas was a wonderful host, explaining each dish before we ordered and helping me select a wine. The chef, Kalle, asked to hear our opinions on the food as we finished each plate. The quail was perfect, the pasta so simply presented with not a single flaw... The cheese selections and both deserts we had were delightful... I can't imagine being disappointed by one of these carefully crafted small plates... I hope to return to Helsinki in the future, and when I do, that trip will surely include reservations at BasBas for a full tasting menu. Highly recommended.
