TL/DR: “KEEP YOUR FILTHY HANDS-OFF TRUMP TOWER!" read the memo, which Reuters reported was sent out by a joint fundraising committee that allocates donations to Trump's 2024 campaign.
Former President Donald Trump's campaign is calling on 1 million supporters to donate to his presidential push to "stop the witch hunt" and save Trump Tower, considering Trump's impending deadline to secure a $454 million bond in his civil fraud case. Will he have to sell it?
Why it matters: Trump's reelection team urged for donations to protect Trump Tower, the former president's prized Manhattan skyscraper, from being taken by "radical Democrat" New York Attorney General Letitia James. The former president has repeatedly claimed that the White House is behind his many legal challenges amid his reelection bid. Trump has been able to use donor money to pay some of his legal fees because he claims his defense is campaign related. Trump, ordered to pay $464 million for fraud, asked 30+ companies to help cover his bond amount; however, they have been denied.

What happens now? If Trump cannot secure his total bond amount, which stems from a lawsuit brought against him by James, state prosecutors could start enforcing the penalty by seizing some of the former president's assets on Monday.
TL/DR: "Why continue to waste millions of dollars of the taxpayers' money if we're going to impeach because you believe you've shown he's committed a high crime or misdemeanor? What are you waiting on?” Rep. Jared Moskowitz said.
House Republicans James Comer and Jim Jordan, leading an impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden, refused to second a motion made by Representative Jared Moskowitz, a Florida Democrat, to impeach the president. Watch the intense exchange.
Why it matters: Comer has been leading an investigation into Biden's alleged involvement in and benefit from son Hunter Biden's foreign business dealings with the help of the House Judiciary Committee, which Jordan, an Ohio Republican, chairs. The president has called it a "baseless political stunt." Moskowitz tried to put the motion on the table for a vote on Wednesday to call GOP lawmakers' bluff in what he called a "fake" probe. A spokesman from the Oversight Committee told Newsweek, "Rep. Moscowitz isn't a serious member of Congress," referring to a mask of Russian President Vladimir Putin that Moscowitz wore on his way to the hearing.

What happens now? As Comer and Jordan continue their impeachment probe into Biden, the president is campaigning for reelection against former President Donald Trump, the presumed GOP presidential nominee. Biden and Trump are neck and neck in a recent The Economist/YouGov poll. Biden has a 1-point lead over Trump in the national poll conducted from March 16 to March 19 (44 percent to 43 percent).
TL/DR: Senators called for hearings on forcing TikTok's Chinese owner to sell the popular app or have it banned.
The effort in Congress to force the sale of TikTok gained traction yesterday as Senators exited a closed-door briefing with national security officials and made calls for hearings on the matter. Here's why lawmakers are trying to ban the popular app.
Why it matters: The House voted 352-65 on March 13 in favor of a bill that would force TikTok's Chinese owner, ByteDance, to sell the company in six months or risk banning the popular app in the United States. The Senate Intelligence Committee has seen bipartisan support from its leaders. However, Commerce Committee Chair Maria Cantwell, a Washington Democrat, has expressed a willingness to change the legislation, which would require it to pass the House again.

What happens now? A bipartisan coalition is pushing forward. The Intelligence Committee seems aligned with that plan, with Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia stressing the need to address the issue before new lawmakers are sworn in for the next Congress in January 2025. With the election drawing near, some worry that politics could derail the bill's passage if Senators spend too much time reviewing it and then send a version back to the House that no longer appeals to the lower chamber.
TL/DR: "After a pause of 44 days, the enemy launched another missile attack on Kyiv," Serhiy Popko, the head of the city's military administration said.
Russian forces launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine on Thursday using ballistic and cruise missiles, injuring at least ten people in the capital, Kyiv. Here's more on the attack and images of the aftermath.
Why it matters: The missile barrage came hours after Russian President Vladimir Putin vowed to retaliate for the shelling of targets in Russia that followed a cross-border raid launched by the Freedom of Russia Legion, the Siberian Battalion and the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK) into Russia's southern Belgorod and Kursk regions on March 12. Serhiy Popko, the head of the city's military administration, said Ukraine's air defense systems shot down about 30 missiles over Kyiv. The Kremlin hasn't commented on the latest attack.

What happens now? The large-scale missile barrage comes after Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Russia's Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, said on Tuesday that 16 people were killed and a further 98 were injured in the region by Ukrainian shelling over the past week. Fighting has intensified in the region amid the incursion by the Freedom of Russia Legion, the Siberian Battalion and the RDK. The three groups have repeatedly urged residents of Belgorod and Kursk to evacuate.
TL/DR: "Higher business operation hurdles make it harder for small businesses to weather this storm more than other states." Cornell guest lecturer John Blevins told Newsweek.
California's jobs market has been struggling despite the booming U.S. economy. The state trails in job growth and has a higher unemployment rate than the national average. Here's the latest data.
Why it matters: In December 2023, the Golden State had a job opening rate of 4.4% against the U.S. average of 5.4%, growing farther apart than the previous year. In January, California's unemployment rate was 5.2% compared to the U.S. average of 3.7%. Cornell guest lecturer John Blevins attributes this trend to the lingering effects of the pandemic shutdown, higher labor costs, regulatory requirements, and employment rules making it harder to do business.

Metal Detectorist Unearths 'Extraordinary' Rare Medieval Artifact
A rare and "extraordinary" medieval artifact has been uncovered by a metal detectorist in Poland.
The object in question, which measures just over 2 inches, once attached to a belt in order to hang keys or a purse, the Kamień Land History Museum announced in a Facebook post.
It was found near the town of Kamień Pomorski in the province of West Pomerania, northwestern Poland, by Damian Tomczyk—a member of a history enthusiasts' group who work to uncover the region's secrets using metal detectors.
