I’ve seen Black Iris mentioned quite a few times, and I’m definitely curious! It sounds so intriguing. While I’m not usually a reader of thrillers, this one sounds really good. I really love all of your points about this one. I think I liked this more than you do, I just really appreciated a story about relatively average college students/early 20s people. BUT I didn’t love the format either (present-day Joss kind of bothered me) and there wasn’t a ton of suspense. I agree with you about Joss’s friends, too, they definitely all blended together and I never got a good idea about anyone besides her and Matt and the people they dated.

I felt the same way you did about Joss’ relationships in the flashbacks, it felt like filler till we could get to the part where she’s going to tell Matt about how she feels and not really anything meaningfull at all.

I’m intrigued by When Joss Met Matt. The story does sound like it would translate well into a film! Your review has made me cautiously curious about this one. Not sure if I’ll be reading it, but I’ll definitely be keeping your thoughts in mind!

I’m a little confused by what makes a book new adult versus a contemporary romance, too, but maybe that’s because the genre as a whole is still developing? I don’t know. I love the initial concept of Beneath Beautiful. The idea of finding out who she is and overcoming personal boundaries/limits as she identifies herself – a great plot for a main character. I’m not overly fond of the fact that it dissolves into romance though.

Ah, novellas. I don’t normally read them, but I do make exceptions! I haven’t read This Summer yet, but I’m intrigued by This Christmas. It’s always interesting for me to read about a couple facing REAL struggles, and that’s what this sounds like!

Whenever I see you post about holiday novellas, I always want to snatch them all up! I love reading things that will let me revel in the holiday spirit. Of the ones in this post, I’m most intrigued by Shannon Stacey’s novella, since I’ve read and loved a book by her before. But the others sound great too!

Alexa S. - Ah, I loved Focus on Me! As always, I thought Megan hit the nail on the head with her story and her characters. So glad you enjoyed it as well! And I’m looking forward to checking out Second Position – I’m a sucker for a book about dance.
I generally prefer physical books, even though my ereader is so convenient to take along on trips! It’s why I’m always trying to sneak a physical one (or three) into my bags 😉
Lucy - I have been meaning to start Second Position and Focus on Me- glad to hear they make great travel reads. Pixelated is new to me and sounds fun- and how cool that you started your own school newspaper!
I like print books too but just don’t have the room to store them, and plus love reading on my ereader at night. And for traveling ereaders are the best. Unless they get wet or the battery dies I guess 🙂
