How intriguing! I’ve heard of The Program before, and your review has definitely made me more inclined to want to check it out. It’s interesting that the author chose to write her story in a world where suicidal tendencies can be “fixed”; that’s definitely fodder for a great discussion of suicide, its characteristics and what can be done about it.

I loved your take on this book Magan! I read it more as a sci-fi type story (or maybe dystopian? I don’t even know what I’d call it) and I was totally disappointed in terms of the world building and the complete lack of explanations about WHY The Program happened. From a character standpoint I feel like I have a new appreciation for this book (though still not a personal favorite because man I did not like James!). Thanks for giving me a new perspective! Kissing in America sounds FABULOUS, M! I wasn’t sure I wanted to read it, but your review has completely changed my mind. I’m definitely going to be trying to snag a copy soon, since it also sounds like a perfect summer read!

I am so, so, so, so glad I’m not alone in my love of this book. I went into it knowing nothing also and adored it so much!  Maybe because it’s been lovely here in Texas for the last few weeks. Maybe because I’m going to Hawaii in less than a week (!!!). I’m so happy to hear this book doesn’t disappoint!! I actually have yet to read Sarah J. Maas’s Throne of Glass series (I know, I’m terrible), but once I do, I’m definitely going to get cracking on this newest release. A grownup Beauty and the Beast retelling? Count me in!

Emma - Welcome back! It feels so special to see snippets of your girls on your social media and I’m glad you are feeling like you’re in a better place now. Congratulations on your new job as well! Switching jobs is always stressful but this change sounds like an exciting one.
Lori - Oh Magan, I can relate to so much of this. I too have had that feeling of coming up for air with both of my boys. I’ve questioned whether or not I did have slight PPD with both…or maybe it’s just normal new motherhood/hormones stuff? Who knows, but it’s so nice to feel more like myself these days. I love this post and I’m so happy you guys are back! Reading and blogging are my ‘me’ time. I’m sure you could use a little bit of that too. 🙂
