Apply Now: DAAD Germany Today Tour 2014
"Applied Science in Germany – Institutions of Higher Education, Research Institutes, and their Internationalization Strategies" DAAD invites representatives from universities, research institutions, and funding agencies in the United States and Canada, and colleagues from the education policy field and politics to join the “Germany Today” Information Tour 2014.The program will be interactive: Program hosts will provide valuable insights into their activities, and you will be asked to share your perspective and expertise with them. The tour is scheduled to take place June 16 through June 21, 2014 (Bonn/Cologne, Trier, Munich).
Topics of focus will include:
Introduction to Germany’s (applied) research landscape Details about certain areas of applied research and funding mechanisms Details about the consortium of seven major, research-intensive universities of applied science (UAS 7) Institutional internationalization strategies Details about select BA and MA programs at recognized universities of applied science Accreditation of courses taken abroad in BA/MA programs PhD programs/training, especially in relation to applied science, and transatlantic mobility
The program will be in English. Program-related costs in Germany (accommodation, domestic travel, most meals) will be covered by DAAD. The program officially starts in Bonn on Monday morning, June 16, 2014 (optional: informal dinner on the previous night, Sunday, June 15) and ends with a dinner on Friday evening, June 20, in Munich. The night from Friday, June 20, through Saturday, June 21, is still booked and covered by DAAD in our hotel in Munich (including breakfast).
Intercontinental travel is at the participant’s expense. Applicants must have U.S./Canadian citizenship or permanent residency, a special interest in Germany and transatlantic co-operation, and a relevant professional position. Applicants should not have recently participated in another information trip to Germany. APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY March 2, 2014. DAAD Application Deadlines Approaching
The DAAD's Undergraduate Scholarship program supports highly qualified undergraduate students pursuing studies at German universities, typically in the context of one of their home institution's exchange programs. The application deadline for students seeking support to study in Germany during the 2014-15 academic year is January 31, 2014. Further details on this program can be found at: https://www.daad.org/undergrad DAAD RISE is a summer internship program for undergraduate students in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences and engineering. RISE offers unique opportunies for Bachelor students to work with research groups at universities and top research institutions across Germany for a period of 2 to 3 months. The working language will be English. All scholarhip holders receive stipends from DAAD to help cover living expenses. The deadline for summer 2014 is January 31. More information, all available interships and application deatails can be found at: https://www.daad.de/rise/en/ DAAD RISE professional is an internship program for undergraduate DAAD alumni and graduate students in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences and engineering. RISE professional offers unique opportunies for students to work in a German company for a period of 6 to 24 weeks.German language requirements depend on the nature of the internship. All scholarhip holders receive stipends from DAAD to help cover living expenses, and the companies will contribute an additional stipend. The deadline is January 31. The application deadline for the Leibniz-DAAD Research Fellowship is March 7, 2014 and more details on this program can be found at: https://www.daad.org/leibnizdaad Several faculty-oriented support programs also have upcoming deadlines. The Learn German in Germany program provides faculty from most disciplines (see webpage for more details) with support to carry out a four-week intensive German language course at a Goethe- Institut in Germany. Deadline for application to this program is January 31, 2014 and more details can be found at: https://www.daad.org/facultylanguage The Group Study Visit program offers financial support for subject-related academic information visits to Germany organized by faculty members for groups of students. Applications for trips taking place during the 2014 summer semester are being accepted through to February 1, 2014. Leo Baeck Fellowships for Doctoral Students in German-Jewish Studies
The international Leo Baeck Fellowship Program is calling for applications for the award period October 2014 to September 2015. Applications from doctoral students who carry out research in the field of history and culture of German-speaking Jewry are invited. Sponsored by the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes and the Leo Baeck Institute London, the program is open to doctoral students world wide, irrespective of their nationality. The deadline for applications is February 1, 2014.
