How Can I Get Free Delivery?

Waterstones.com is currently offering free UK delivery on orders over £20. Please ensure that you select "FREE DELIVERY" during checkout.

Terms and Conditions

  • The items you order will be delivered as soon as they become available and therefore may arrive separately.
  • The offer only applies to orders with delivery addresses in the UK.
  • Orders placed using free delivery will be delivered 2-4 days later than the first class delivery.
  • The offer does not apply to purchases of Waterstones Gift Cards & Vouchers, though orders paid for using these cards will still be eligible.

What is Click & Collect?

Click & Collect allows you to search for the book you're after, and if it's in stock in your chosen bookshop, collect it from them.

The shop will contact you to confirm that your chosen book has been put aside. It will be ready for you to pick up, at a time that suits you, over the following five days.

Items Available For UK Delivery Only

Some items on our website can only be delivered to UK addresses. You are able to buy these if you live overseas, but delivery will have to be to a UK address.

If your default delivery address is outside the UK, you will need to go to your account and under 'Address Book' change it to a UK address before you can proceed to the checkout and purchase your items.

Free UK Home Delivery on Orders Over £20

In stock items ordered before 2pm (Mon-Fri) will be despatched the same day. Your item(s) may be sent in separate parcels, and should take 3-5 working days to arrive.

Delivery to UK mainland addresses: Monday to Saturday, excluding public holidays.

Reserve your book on Waterstones.com, collect it from your local Waterstones and pay the online price.

Free Delivery to a Waterstones Bookshop

Your items will be available to collect from your local Waterstones shop within 3-6 working days.

Please note that:

  • The shop will email you when your item is available for collection.
  • Your order will be held at the shop for 90 days for you to pick up at your convenience.
  • You should take your despatch email or order number and a form of ID with you when you go to collect your goods - we require these as a proof of purchase, and without them we cannot release your order.
 

1st Class - £3.75

In stock items ordered before 2pm (Mon-Fri) will be despatched the same day. Your item(s) may be sent in separate parcels, and delivery should take 1-2 working days to arrive.

Delivery to UK mainland addresses: Monday to Saturday, excluding public holidays.

 

2nd Class - £2.75 or Free on Orders Over £20

In stock items ordered before 2pm (Mon-Fri) will be despatched the same day. Your item(s) may be sent in separate parcels, and should take 3-5 working days to arrive.

Delivery to UK mainland addresses: Monday to Saturday, excluding public holidays. 

 

UK Courier - £7.95

In stock items ordered before 2pm (Mon-Fri) will be despatched the same day. Your item(s) may be sent in separate parcels, and delivery should take 1 working day to arrive.

Please note that:

  • This method is fully secure and we can track and trace the order for you.
  • Goods despatched on a Friday will normally be delivered the following Monday.
  • Goods despatched over the weekend will normally be delivered the following Tuesday.
  • Goods despatched after 2pm may not be collected from our fulfilment centre until the following day.
  • Orders sent via this method will require a signature upon receipt.

 

Overseas Courier Delivery

Please note that:

  • If one or more items are not available when you place your order there may be a delay in despatch, so that we can send your items in as few parcels as possible.
  • Orders will be despatched using our international courier and you will be charged a shipping cost.
  • This method is fully secure, and we can track and trace the shipment for you.
  • Orders sent via this method will require a signature upon receipt.
  • Courier delivery cannot be made to PO Boxes.

Western Europe Delivery - £9.00 + £1 per additional item

Estimated delivery time: 7 - 8 working days from despatch.

Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland

Rest of the World Delivery - £12.50 + £1 Per Additional Item

Estimated delivery time: 7 - 10 working days from despatch.

 

VAT

The prices payable for goods are as set out in the website, inclusive of VAT where applicable (books are currently zero rated). Customers ordering for delivery outside of the UK will be responsible for payment of any local taxes payable including VAT, and will be required to pay extra for delivery and clearance where necessary.

 

Customs Charges

If you are ordering goods for delivery outside of the UK, please note that your consignment may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once the goods reach the country of destination. Any such charges levied in relation to customs clearance must be paid by you. It is accepted by you that Waterstones has no control over additional charges in relation to customs clearance. Waterstones recommend that you check with your local customs officials or post office for more information regarding importation taxes/duties that may be applicable to your online order. You will be the importer of record and responsible for any import VAT and duty that needs to be paid. In addition, any charges for import clearance will be paid by you, the customer.

 

British Forces Post Office Addresses

For BFPO addresses, please select UK as your country.

 

Prison Book Delivery

For prison deliveries, when selecting a delivery address please enter the Prisoner Number into the 'Address line 1' field and the name of the prison into the 'Address line 2' field. Enter the name and other details as normal.

Please note that there are books that are banned from being sent to prisons. This varies from institution to institution, so please contact the relevant prison if you have any questions.
