Let's not be fooled. The conservatives are no ally to parent/grandparent sponsorship, nor to healthcare for seniors, and certainly not to the struggle for affordable housing.

I think many feel that we shouldn't encourage parent sponsorship, because sponsored parents are a burden--they're probably retirees and they're non-Canadians who haven't "contributed" to Canadian society. 1/2

I apologise on behalf of my government to those wishing to sponsor their parents who could not afford representation, aren't privileged enough to take time off work, and don't speak English or French as a first language. In 2019 these were prerequisites to family reunification.

This morning, ICE agents got on my Greyhound bus that was headed from Spokane to Portland. They walked around before they asked me and few others to step outside and took my documents and interrogated me for around 20 mins then claimed my papers were fake and that I’m “illegal”.
