After spending last week just hoping it would go away, the PM must now focus on plummeting business confidence and NZ’s economic downturn

Today’s Reserve Bank report points to growth softening unexpectedly. Not unexpected by those who have seen Labour/NZFirst anti-Growth policies.

The Economy is a long way from the 3% plus growth treasury is projecting. Each 1% loss in gdp is worth $800 m. I reckon the economy is running around 1.5-2% at present.

Reserve Bank Governor, ‘Low business confidence can affect employment and investment decisions’. Growth is down. Yet Ministers dismiss measures of falling confidence as junk.

David Parker’s dismissal of plunging business confidence levels as ‘the vibe of a self-selected subset of CEOs’ is just the latest example of a concerning level of arrogance from this Government.

As a biographer of Don Brash some years back, I wonder whether I'm now unwelcome at . Universities should be bastions of free speech. We don't all have to think the same.

This Govt needs to start listening to businesses & come up with some real action to turn the economy around. Otherwise it won't be long before Kiwis are flocking to Australia again.

First point, they were good pies No shame in having four. However, I only had 1 and 1/4. Less than others higher in the pecking order.

The ban of Don Brash is a disgrace. There’s a growing tendency by some on the left to shout down people they don’t agree with. That’s not the New Zealand way. We’re capable of making up our own minds.

This is indeed very concerning. Universities should be places where a diversity of views are heard and debated, not shut down.

Robertson back peddling at question time on David Parker’s arrogant dismissal of business confidence surveys as ‘junk’. Pity they won’t listen to widespread concerns and backpeddle on some of their anti-Growth policies. Growth is slowing and it’s getting harder to get ahead.

And it has started... the constant assault on business by this useless government affects business confidence and that affects hiring..

David Parker doubles down. Business confidence surveys are ‘junk’. No wonder the investors we need to start new businesses, hire people and build new plant and equipment are keeping their hands in their pockets.

This is dead on. This isn’t about the world economy, this is domestic mismanagement and the Govt needs to stop dismissing these concerns and start supporting our economy

Latest ANZ business Confidence survey and firms’ view of own activity show we truly down to GFC levels. When will the Ardern-Peters government take some responsibility for their anti-growth policies and for the uncertainty they have sown.

As well as accusing me of ‘pettifogging’, Mr Jones likened me to a ‘figpecker bird’ - has anyone seen one of these? This, for having the temerity to ask questions relating to the probity and transparency around spending a billion dollars of public money.

Another episode in my efforts to extract some accountability from Shane Jones for his $1bn Provincial Growth Fund.

Question times today: Shane Jones regards a concern for probity and transparency in the spending of a billion dollars of public money as ‘two bit suspicions’ and ‘petty fogging’. Arrogance.
