Dishonored novels, comics will bridge the gap before the sequel hits

Bethesda Softworks announced that the world of Dishonored will soon receive its own comic and novel tie-ins. Starting this summer, Titan Comics and Books will publish two miniseries set after the end of Dishonored, leading into this November's Dishonored 2. The first issue of the four-part comic series will arrive Aug. 3, according to Bethesda, with two more issues coming in September before the series concludes in October. The full collection will come to bookstores Nov. 29. The comics will depict assassin Corvo Attano's attempt to find a successor, 12 years after his adventure in Dishonored wrapped. These events will take place before the events of Dishonored 2, the upcoming sequel starring a grown-up Emily Kaldwin, who first appeared as a child in Dishonored. But Dishonored — The...

There's PvP options, touch-based controls and lots of shouting, as those familiar with the zombified creatures have come to expect. Check out the trailer up top to see all of this in action — including a card design that Hearthstone fans might find familiar. This is the first time the multimedia franchise's stars have returned to their gaming roots in two years. The last time we saw the Rabbids was in Rabbids Invasion:...

Sources: Xbox One getting huge upgrade in 2017, slim model later this year

Microsoft has two new Xbox consoles on the horizon, according to reports on Kotaku that Polygon has corroborated with its own sources. Those sources also told Polygon that one of those new consoles will be over four times more powerful than the current Xbox One and that the announcement at E3 was triggered by, among other things, a faster-than-expected timeline for Sony’s own upgraded PlayStation 4. The other console, a slimmed-down version of the current hardware, will also be getting a redesigned controller. The latter is scheduled to be revealed at E3 or at an event shortly before, as plans are currently in discussion. Tom Warren at Polygon sister site The Verge reports that the console will be "40 percent smaller than the current model and will likely include 4K support," which...

Hatoful Boyfriend, the unique dating sim starring a cast of pigeons, is now available on iOS. Fans of birds, romance and everything in between can pick it up for $4.99. Based on its App Store description, the game doesn't deviate much from its original Windows PC and Mac release. Players will again balance school and dating as students of St. PigeoNation's Institute, where verbose pigeons walk the halls. There's a twist, though, as the game heads to some dark places later on. For those without a Steam account, an iPhone or an iPad, Hatoful Boyfriend recently made its way onto PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita as well. A sequel, Holiday Star, launched on all of these platforms in 2015; it tells new side stories starring the avian characters. Read our review to find out just if and...

This week's Iron Banner will run until the next weekly reset, which will occur at 5 a.m ET on Tuesday, May 31. Pokémon Go offers trainer customization, microtransactions and more

The Pokémon Company dropped further details about Pokémon Go, the upcoming iOS and Android game that takes trainers into the real world to collect 'em all. Among the new info is an explanation of Gyms, evolution, battling and more. Similar to Pokémon X and Y, players can dress up their characters with different clothes and accessories. They'll get to see their customized trainers on the in-game map, and opponents will see the characters during Gym battles. Claiming a Gym and successfully defending it from attackers helps to increase its Prestige ranking, with higher level locations allowing for more Pokémon to join the line of defense. Teammates can band together to take on rival Gyms even faster. There are other challenges beyond just Gym battles, however, and...

E3 2016 for Nintendo: Facts, rumors and speculation

For E3 2016, Nintendo has one thing on the brain: The Legend of Zelda. The developer is forgoing the chance to show off other upcoming titles or even its next console, known only as NX, to focus exclusively on this one title. In other words, great news for The Legend of Zelda fans. For others, not so much. So what's the plan? Nintendo's pre-show conference kicks off June 19, bright and early, at 9 a.m. PT. This is usually a Nintendo Direct packed with announcements and gameplay from upcoming titles. Last year was no different. Viewers were given looks at games such as The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes, Fire Emblem Fates and Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival, while dates dropped for titles such as Xenoblade Chronicles X and Star Fox Zero. This year's livestream,...

The Division's latest update is kind of a disaster

Tom Clancy's The Division launched its second high-profile update just yesterday, unleashing a plague of game breaking bugs across multiple platforms. Some users are even reporting missing characters. The big release — called update 1.2 or Conflict — contains new player-versus-player and player-versus-environment content, as well as a second centerpiece raid called Clear Sky. Many users, including Polygon staff, are experiencing persistent issues with stability and matchmaking in multiple game modes. One of the PvE systems, called High Value Targets, relies on a new currency called Intel. But when some players turn in their hard-won Intel, HVT missions refuse to unlock. When they do unlock, named bosses often fail to materialize, leaving players empty-handed. The only solution seems...

Battleborn cuts price and rolls out a new character as Overwatch launches

Battleborn introduced a new character and cut its price by $20, perhaps not coincidentally on the same day rival Overwatch launched. Both are colorful first-person shooters with several distinctive characters; Battleborn is the one that launched three weeks before Overwatch. The latest member of Battleborn's roster is Alani, described as a "water-bending warrior monk." Her introductory video is below. The character is available for everyone who played in the PlayStation 4 open beta or bought Battleborn's season pass or digital deluxe edition. As for that, every version of Battleborn has been trimmed by $20 from now through Saturday. That means the digital deluxe version, which includes all the future downloadable content, costs $54.99 and the standard version is $39.99. The deal is...

Rumor: Titanfall 2 adds grappling hooks, larger multiplayer maps

Titanfall 2 will give players a new way to traverse the game's environments and engage others in combat, thanks to the addition of a grappling hook, according to a post on the Titanfall subreddit. A user claiming to have knowledge of Respawn Entertainment's next game posted that gameplay detail alongside a piece of legitimate-looking artwork to back up their claim. That grappling hook, the Reddit user said, is used for "getting into your Titan, aiding free-running, or tactical plays such as pulling enemies while they're midair." Titanfall 2 will also apparently feature larger multiplayer maps. The piece of artwork posted by that Reddit user ("ilovegoogleglass") doesn't appear to feature a grappling hook (nor the sword teased in Titanfall 2's first trailer), though it does match a...
