Benefits mother Marie Buchan appears to have found an unlikely ally in Myleene Klass

Scrounger Marie Buchan, 33, from Birmingham, met former popstar Myleene Klass while she was filming a documentary on single parents for ITV. The mother-of-eight moved into a four-bedroom property last summer after moaning that Government cuts to the benefits cap would leave her family on the breadline. She had previously caused outrage when she declared her five-figure benefits were not enough. The former Hear'Say singer turned-reporter met up with a cross section of single parents for a documentary which is on ITV on Tuesday. Ms Buchan boasts on 'Myleene Klass: Single Mums On Benefits' about how easy it is to claim benefits after having children. She tells Myleene: 'It is an easy option. You obviously have a baby, you send off the application form, birth certificate, they assess it and then you've got your money in your account. It is very easy.'

The four missed warnings over UK's open coastline shambles

Four reports, the most recent last week, have sounded the alarm over lax UK border controls. But the Government claimed the threat was 'not currently assessed as being significant'. As evidence grew of smugglers repeatedly targeting small harbours, there are fears Britain's soft underbelly has been left exposed. Concerns about the vulnerability of Britain's coastline were raised in two reports in 2010 and 2011 by John Vine (pictured bottom right), the then independent inspector of borders. Meanwhile it was revealed that a Navy warship (HMS Sutherland pictured bottom left) could be sent to the Channel to pick up migrants. And abandoned on the same beach where 18 Albanians were brought ashore in Kent, another boat (pictured top) has been found which is feared to have been used to smuggle more migrants into Britain.

The parents-of-four whose son fell into zoo enclosure sparking controversial killing of

These are the parents of the four-year-old boy whose fall into the gorilla exhibit moat in Cincinnati Zoo resulted in the death of 17-year-old silverback gorilla, Harambe. Seen here for the first time Michelle Gregg, 32, has four children by Deonne Dickerson, 36, a man who, Daily Mail Online can disclose, has a lengthy criminal history. Criminal filings against Dickerson stretch over a decade and include burglary, firearms offences, drug trafficking, criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and kidnap. In 2006 he was sentenced to one year behind bars for a drug trafficking conviction. But in numerous pictures posted on Dickerson's Facebook site in recent years he appears to have turned his life around to become the proud father of four.

Was Harambe going to harm the boy who fell into his enclosure? We'll never know. Harambe was shot dead by staff of Cincinnati Zoo while standing next to the distressed four-year-old.

Cincinnati Zoo video shows Harambe the gorilla HOLDING HANDS with the boy

New video footage of Harambe the gorilla suggest he was trying to protect a four year old boy who fell into the zoo enclosure just minutes before the 400-pound animal was fatally shot. The clip shows Harambe standing guard over the boy in the corner of the moat, and the two even share a brief moment holding hands. Witnesses said the gorilla was acting protectively in the tense situation, which may have been aggravated by panicked onlookers who screamed as they watched from above. Cincinnati Zoo Director Thane Maynard confirmed the gorilla did not appear to be attacking the child, but he described it as 'an extremely strong animal in an agitated situation' before supporting the animal response team's decision to kill Harambe. The incident, which was captured on cell phone, has sparked an outcry of emotion, with thousands of mourners branding it a 'senseless death'.

The BBC show was watched by an average of 4.3million people last night - peaking at 4.7million - compared to the 5.3million who watched the final episode starring Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May last June. PIC BY JOHAN BARNARD/CATERS NEWS - (PICTURED: A selfish elephant who wants the watering hole to himself throws his weight around scattering the impalas.) - Thats rather impal-ite! Life on the African planes can be hot at the best of times, so spare a thought for these thirsty impalas that were just hoping to quench their thirst. Clustered around a watering hole, the impalas were disturbed mid-drink by a rather rude elephant which charged in to cool off without waiting its turn. As the impalas scattered, the elephant made sure they knew who the biggest beast was, before drinking its fill. The incident was captured by Johan Barnard, 50, from Cape Town, South Africa, while he was on the Nxai Pans park, Botswana. SEE CATERS COPY.

Octagon House used to lock up Napoleonic War POWs on the market for £1m

Octagon House in Beverley, East Yorkshire, was constructed in Georgian times and first opened in 1810 - becoming home to around 100 convicts, the most notable of whom were indicted during 12 years of battle with the French Empire. It was eventually sold in 1878 to a builder who converted the now Grade II listed property into a home in 1880. It is currently owned by Bill and Susan Lane who have now put it up for sale for just under £1million. The Lanes live in a building that made up the central unit of the prison, which connected four cross-shaped blocks, which have since been knocked down. It comprises 4,000sqft over three floors and has five bedrooms, three bathrooms, an office, a games room and a cellar.
