A jealous boyfriend whose paranoia led him to secretly record his girlfriend at home appeared on today's episode of ITV's Jeremy Kyle show.

Steve admitted to filming his girlfriend Lauren, who decided to go on the show to prove that she had not been cheating of her boyfriend of four years.

However, despite her protest that she had never cheated on Steve, Lauren shocked the audience by failing the lie detector and eventually admitted to kissing someone else.

'I am at breaking point,' the brunette, who has a three-year-old and a two-month-old baby with Steve, told Jeremy Kyle when she first entered the stage.

Lauren told the studio audience that her relationship was 'good for two years' until she found suggestive texts on Steve's phone from other women.

'There were a lot deleted so it didn't make sense, but there were pictures being sent, I think she was naked, but I don't think he was naked,' she said.

Viewers took to Twitter to express their outrage at the fact that Steve had cheated on Lauren - who is eight years younger.

Even Jeremy seemed baffled, and kept reminding him how fortunate he should feel to have such a 'beautiful, talented girl' as a partner.

'It was difficult, but it doesn't really bother me now. I've managed to just forget,' she said.

Steve then had a cancer scare and Lauren admitted she 'really wasn't there for him'.

Jeremy confessed that his personal experience of cancer led him to understand how hard it can be for the victim's loved ones.

Steve joined Lauren on the stage and expressed his regret for sending the texts, as well as recording her in the house - although he added that he did think he heard something.

'I thought I heard sex noises,' he told Jeremy, although he seemed mortified when he was repeatedly asked to impersonate what the sound was like.

Eventually Jeremy revealed the results of Lauren's paternity and lie detector tests.

However, in a shocking turn of events, she did not pass every question on the lie detector, despite proving that both her children were Steve's.

'I hate this job sometimes,' he admitted. 'So she's kissed somebody right? You've sent pictures and messages. So maybe for the first time in 10 years I say call it quits.

'You should afford her exactly what she afforded you.

'Two wrongs don't make a right but I think this is the very beginning.'
