Our Data Center in Minnesota
Why Minneapolis?
Minneapolis is a key emerging market for colocation according to Data Center Knowledge and Minnesota is among “America’s Top States for Business,” according to CNBC. Seventeen of the Fortune 500 companies are headquartered in Minnesota. The Minneapolis area is ranked one of the ten best big cities for educated millennials by Business Insider.
ViaWest’s Minneapolis data center facility is now state certified, which makes each user within this facility eligible for a rebate of all sales and to use taxes paid to the State of Minnesota on data center equipment, IT software, servers, networking gear and electricity. In addition to these incentives made available by the State of Minnesota, the State of Minnesota does not charge a personal property tax, thereby reducing further the cost of occupancy.
ViaWest’s Minnesota data center plays an active role in the Minneapolis community. Our regular participation in charitable and non-profit organizations demonstrates our devotion to our community and the people who live there. Several of the organizations ViaWest Minnesota proudly participates in include: Minneapolis Recreation Development with Project 363, Minnesota Timberwolves FastBreak Foundation's Read to Achieve, and NCWIT (National Center for Women & Information Technology.) All ViaWest employees receive one paid day per year to volunteer at a charity of their choice.
