“We decided to flee Burundi because there was war. I miss the school where I was studying in Burundi. I had enough materials: shoes and clothes, pens, eraser and a school bag,” says ten-year-old Nyongere at Nduta refugee camp in Tanzania. But this year he has no school to attend.
Financial assistance has been consistently flagged as a critical need and top priority in all exchanges with Afghan families. High prevalence of negative coping mechanisms, high inflation rate and limited livelihoods opportunities justify this need.
NRC Iran initiated its own cash based Program in Iran in 2013 and has ever since been a strong advocate to develop and extend Cash Transfer Programming (CTP) in Iran.

The Middle East Regional Office based in Amman, Jordan was created in January 2014 as part of NRC’s reorganization process. We currently have more than 3,000 staff in the Middle East region assisting people displaced by conflict in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Turkey, Jordan and Palestine. Our work is concentrated on the shelter, education, food security, legal assistance and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors with strong protection and resilience focus integrated into our programs.
