A collection of Cyberpunk logos inspired by Gibson and Stephenson's universes that I created some time back. Posted a long time ago, but I thought I'd toss them into the current logo zeitgeist. by geisha_chainsaw in Cyberpunk

These are awesome. Do you mind if people print these out as stickers or do other stuff with them? I wouldn't mind using some for a few personal projects.

Some would say those nipples are not suitable for work, but personally I'm totally fine with it.

Insurers are giving Tesla owners discounts for turning on Autopilot by nliausacmmv in Futurology

I don't think u/chispy is saying autonomous vehicles will reach level 5 in 5-10 years, but more that once we reach level 5 it will be then that insurance will begin to fade out over perhaps 5-10 years.

I inject all you want into me, I'll still be too lazy to bother applying it towards anything.

What are the top ten cyberpunk films? by zeekaran in Cyberpunk

[–]spacehawk13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't think of a definitive top ten as I don't think there is one, so the ones I listed are I think without a doubt 100% Cyberpunk. Others can have Cyberpunk elements but it can be debatable if they are purely Cyberpunk, Alien or Hardware could be an example of this.

But anyway:

Akira Ghost in the Shell Bladerunner 1 + 2 Strange Days Johnny Mnemonic Judge Dredd 2012 Psycho Pass

Robocop 1 aslo, but I want put it on the list, also Robocop number 2 has a much more Cyberpunk tone. As far as a Cyberpunk aesthetics go the Neill Blomkamp movies are right up there, also Total Recall 2012, a lot of hate towards this movie but imo is one of the most cyberpunk looking movies made as far as sets and costumes are concerned.

Anyway here is a good database which should have them all listed https://www.neondystopia.com/cyberpunk-movies-anime/

Are we close to regenerating teeth? I wonder what happened to Dr. Jeremy Mao's findings and human trials? by mk_1993 in Futurology

No I cannot find a source, though it is no secret that people do commit suicide due to having unbearable pain that cannot be relieved, it still happens today. So it shouldn't be that unbelievable that people 100 years would kill themselves because there was no relief from severe pain in their face.

Also I'm from Australia and one of my friends had this obscure history book on Sydney that he showed me, though it was about 20 years ago now, it was relating more towards the underground dark history of the city and it was in that they discussed how people used to go for swims into the harbour and continue swimming out to sea until they would drown due to tooth infections or other problems. It's not really something that is really taught in school history books, I've had a search for it on the web but can't find so no I cannot provide proof.

But here is a recent story of a woman who jumped 5 storeys to her death supposedly due to pain in her teeth https://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-news/387670/Unbearable-tooth-ache-drives-Lancashire-woman-to-suicide If that still happens today you can bet it was happening 100 years ago.

Question about this community’s thoughts on the future of extension of human life by quest4thesimulation in Futurology

I agree, why do people have to keep adding unoriginal content to the internet, I mean how many god dam videos of golden retrievers are there on this thing? Enough already why can't we just have one video and one photo of each dog breed. I'm so sick of people using the internet to add more and more of the same thing, that's not what it was designed for, as it is explicitly written in the terms and conditions on page 5758398034 paragraph 17: Only one of everything and no more than that shall be allowed. Yet for some reason humanity has completely abused this rule, it is absolutely disgraceful behavior!!!

I know there is more that can be done but the advancements in dentistry over the last 50 years or so is fucking amazing. Remember within the 1900's people where still committing suicide due to tooth infections and other dental problems. As a personal note, my grandmother in the 1920's went to the dentist one day to have some problem looked at and she ended up having every single tooth pulled from her mouth, this was when she was only 22 years old. So compare the brutality that people still alive today had to deal with to what we have right now and from their point of view we would already be living in an utopian dental paradise.
