Black Friday Megathread - /r/Games edition. by That_otheraccount in Games

I'm not into it either but of course it's still like that. I can't even imagine the undertaking required to suddenly turn it into Call of Duty.

I see where you are coming from. I agree that we need to be careful to not let the conversation devolve into pointless hatred.

How can it not, though? /r/games already devolves into hatred and it's not even remotely supposed to be the point of the sub. I can't even imagine what your sub will look like the second a developer has to remove a minor graphical detail because it stopped them from hitting 60 FPS like they wanted to. People break their own wrists because they can't complain with their keyboards fast enough.

I guess my main question is, isn't this stuff already being discussed openly in most gaming subs? Was there not enough conversation happening when NMS shit the bed? Using NMS has an obvious example, what more could your sub provide that wasn't already provided literally anywhere else?

as well as discuss good practices and responsible developers to encourage good changes in the industry,

I don't know, man. A sub called "Games Watch Dogs" does not sound like it's going to be promoting a whole lot of positive behavior.

I wish you the best and I hope I'm wrong, but man, I feel like just a cursory glance around the Internet is enough to make me nervous about a sub like that actually getting a serious amount of followers.

Orion Trail (the comedic adventure space adaption of Oregon Trail) now has a VR version by Heaney555 in Games

This game has been out for GearVR for a long time now. I think you mean it's out on the Vive now.

Peter Molyneux talks to us about Lionhead's legacy, working with Xbox, and making Milo by rookie-mistake in Games

[–]runtheplacered 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm confused about this comment. You say "Ooft, really?" like it's astounding that anybody enjoyed that game. Yet, if you followed the game as closely as you lead on, you'd know it was critically acclaimed. I mean, OK, you didn't like it or whatever, that's neat. But to sit there and act surprised that anybody else did? That's just weird as hell to me.

Sounds to me like a classic case of your own hype killed the game for you. Happens all the time, but it doesn't take away from the game itself. Sorry, but it's going to go down in history as a classic.

Everytime I see the name "Lionhead", I don't think about Fable, I don't think about Molyneux's broken promises.

I think about The Movies. And about how I want another one so badly.

Gearbox Head Hints at Possible Duke Nukem Announcement Coming December 1st by boober_luber in Games

What the hell is even a "season"?

Doesn't even matter, I think we can figure this out very simply. Did they lie anywhere when advertising the Season Pass? Did you not get something they promised you would get? If the answer is no, then I don't get the complaint.

And this is coming from a guy that doesn't even like Borderlands in the first place. Then again, I also don't buy Season Passes, so what I know.

Good to know. When you mentioned the jaggies were gone, that was my first question too. That's pretty impressive.

Depression in Young People Affects the Stomach. Anxiety effects the Skin. by quantum_jim in science

[–]runtheplacered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gnawing pain in your stomach? Had it for years. Thought it was GERD like people are telling you here. I thought it was cancer at one point too, I was totally convinced. Wound up realizing it was my lower intestines and after a good bowel movement, it would go away. But it really felt like it was in my stomach, but for whatever reason, that didn't turn out to actually be the case.

Just my personal experience. The gnawing pain was ruining every day I had until I finally figured it out.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the way it works. Plus, they added ads to this game, so I imagine this game will be perpetually free now.

you should comment instead of downvoting and moving on.

There's nothing to comment on. Your comment is pure nonsense. "Something needs to be done". Sure buddy, whatever you say.

What? lol no they don't. Pepsi sells their products to the people that own the Pepsi Machines. What a ridiculous comparison.

That just seems so stupid to me. I do not hate or love any giant ass company. I either like what they are doing currently, or I do not like what they are doing currently. Holding grudges and shit when we're talking about these fucking huge monolithic companies seems like just about the stupidest, most pointless thing you can do.

But hey, whatever works for you, I guess.

Sat my 7 year old in front of Euro Truck Simulator, just to give myself a giggle since I assumed he'd be like "the hell is this.."?

Turns out, he loved it, and actually took it semi serious. Unlike me, which loses patience and winds up turning it into a GTA simulator.

INSIDE patch removes Denuvo DRM 4 months after release by alo81 in Games

[–]runtheplacered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God, this thread is sad as fuck. I've pirated things, that means I stole shit, I'm not going to sit here and bend over backwards to make it sound like anything it isn't. "I downloaded it to try it". Sure you did. And the second you found that it worked great you immediately uninstalled and bought it, right? Sure you did.

We've both stolen shit, let's get over it.

Ryan Brown: Zelda: BOTW has been rated M for Mature in Australia; might suggest the game is basically finished. (x-post /r/NintendoSwitch) by Walopoh in Games

[–]runtheplacered 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Putting out fake, negative news on purpose, just to see who might be leaking doesn't seem like a great idea. It's a good idea under the right circumstances but people tend to put a lot of stock in rumors, even when they're told later that it wasn't true, and a lot of times the damage is already done. For a business to do it just doesn't seem realistic, but who knows, I guess.

[Steam] Autumn Sale 2016 | Day 1 by gamedealsmod in GameDeals

[–]runtheplacered 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, it was more like, say good bye to about 12 hours of my life and then maybe another hour or two restarting the game in frustration. I just cannot get into that game to save my life.

How do you all feel about Vice's Waypoint? by GoldenJoel in Games

[–]runtheplacered 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Come on, they do occasionally dive into a little crude humor, but I love it, it's by no means a bad thing. I love that they can be totally serious one moment and hilarious the next. I do think Austin brought something to the table, and do think he had great chemistry with the rest of the gang.

But I can see how Austin in a vacuum could get tiring after awhile, he needs people like Vinny and the gang to balance him out and remind him that not everything has to be super serious all of the time, I can agree with that.

Not everything has to be social commentary in much the same way not everything has to be dick and fart jokes. That's why I enjoyed the Beastcast so much, because there was a great mix of everything you could ask for.

I find whenever anyone says shit like this, and I go find their comment, it's because the way they phrase their opinion leaves a lot to be desired. Are you sure that's not the case here?
