Will Anyone Try to Challenge Gov. Greg Abbott? by glaedr1 in Republican

Abbott is a popular and successful governor. I don't see any challenger being able to unseat him at the moment.

White American men are a bigger domestic terrorist threat than Muslim foreigners by BaronTrump666 in politics

They are not sacks of potatoes they are human beings! You don't import them...

So you're fine with barring them from immigrating to the US. Works for me.

And almost all muslims being fresh immigrants? That's a straight up falsehood.

Nope. Check the number that have immigrated over the last 30 years against the total population of Muslims in the US.

I am aware that there have been Muslims in the US for a long time. The vast majority here are immigrants, and per capita they are far more likely to commit terrorist attacks than the native population.

If the populations were static, you might have a point. The other thing not covered by those numbers is that almost all Muslims in the US immigrated over the last few decades, and there are groups arguing that we should be mass-importing more, despite their individually having a much higher likelihood of committing terrorist attacks than the general population.

You wake up in Kim Jong Un's body. You can speak and understand Korean. Without getting assassinated by your commanders, how do you transition North Korea and its people from an Orwellian state of despair to a prosperous nation so you can then ride your fame to launch your career in music? by KJ_RD in AskReddit

If they started disarming themselves for ag equipment and willingly gave first dibs, I'm fairly certain a first world country somewhere would take it.

We've played this game with them already. Clinton gave them 2 nuclear reactors and $5 billion to not develop nukes.

I understand that you are a dick though and have to downvote anyone who you even have a mild disagreement with.

You're barking up the wrong tree there. I rarely downvote anyone, and haven't in a week at least.

Saying we will give away our military supplies that takes years to develop for food is saying "we actually may be opening up".

A ship full of weapons from North Korea was just seized off the Egyptian coast. I don't think they have a shortage.

No Tax Returns, No Presidential Election Ballot, California Democrats Tell Trump by ThePoliticalHat in Republican

Regardless of whether Trump wins, it definitely disenfranchises Republican voters...

Not at all. All candidates are held to the same standard. California disenfranchises Republican voters in many ways, but this isn't one of them.

Frankly if you're concerned about the disenfranchisement of Republican voters, you should look to the RNC. They made it clear this past primary - and actually came out and said in interviews that it was they who selected the Republican nominee, not the voters.

In the case of NK, mostly what people want them to do is stop making nukes and missiles and threatening everyone.

They've spent half a century tunneling and hiding infrastructure.

There's no show of faith they could produce that could be believed, or that would preclude them from going back to making nukes and threatening everyone the moment they got what they wanted.

[Feedback] What would you like to see in a food and alchemy mod? by vram1974 in skyrimmods

If you're going to disable default healing, you might consider incorporating an optional small amount of healing when the PC sleeps to represent natural healing. This way, someone badly injured could heal slowly over a period of days or weeks even without potions.

Unique food recipes can be interesting, particularly if they involve beneficial effects and rare/hard to obtain ingredients that the beneficial effects make it worthwhile to seek out.

Racial benefits/hazards to ingredients is a neat idea - food for someone might be unhealthy to someone else.

New ingredients and alchemical effects are always interesting - they open up lots of possibilities.

Blood harvesting is a neat idea as well - lots of possibilities for that.

Another possibility with regard to new ingredients or effects is the idea that the ingredients must be collected under certain conditions (at night, with a special tool, on a certain day, etc.)

1957... 6% of Federal revenue was allocated to pay down the debt, and the debt actually decreased.

If they were reducing taxes across the board, the deficit in the short term wouldn't be important.

I was just watching a news story where the anchor was asking people how the tax cut was going to be paid for, noting that Reagan's tax cuts increased the Federal debt by $2 trillion over the next 10 years.

The thing is, that number though true, misses a few important facts:

  1. Reagan's tax cuts didn't just cut taxes for the middle class. They also cut the top marginal rate from 70% to 28%.

  2. Over the course of Reagan's Presidency, Federal tax revenue doubled despite the lower tax rates.

  3. The reason the debt increased over Reagan's Presidency is that the Democratic Congress more than doubled spending over the same period.

Ergo, it isn't about "paying for" the tax cuts - its about holding Federal spending to current levels as the tax revenues increase instead of treating the increased revenues as a license to spend even more.

Almost every time the Obama administration got caught doing something against the interests of conservatives or the rule of law, the people involved got bonuses and/or were promoted. The various IRS scandals were no exception.

California has no right to add qualifications for presidential candidates beyond constitutional law.

It can add whatever requirements it wants so long as they don't violate the Constitution or Federal law. Ballot qualifications are a state matter.

Trump wasn't ever going to win any California delegates anyway, so this has no effect.
