Chocolate and Coconut Paleo Magic Bars

INGREDIENTS

1 13.5-oz. can coconut milk, at room temperature

1/3 cup + 2 tbsp. pure maple syrup, divided

1/3 cup coconut oil, at room temperature

1 1/2 cups almond flour

1/8 tsp. sea salt

1/2 cup almonds, chopped

3/4 cup dark chocolate chips

1/2 cup unsweetened coconut flakes

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a large pot, set over high heat, whisk together the can of coconut milk and 1/3 cup of pure maple syrup, reserving the remaining syrup for later. Bring the mixture to a low boil and boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  2. Then, turn the heat down to medium and and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce reduced by about half.
  3. Remove the sauce from the heat and allow to cool while you make the crust.
  4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and line a square pan with parchment paper.
  5. In a large bowl, mix the remaining 2 tbsp. of pure maple syrup with the coconut oil until it is smooth and creamy.

  7. Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the pan using the palms of your hands.
  8. Bake the crust just until lightly golden brown, about 10-12 mins.
  9. Once the crust is lightly golden, layer the chopped almonds over top and lightly press them into the crust.
  10. Over the almond layer, add the dark chocolate chips, followed by the unsweetened coconut flakes.
  11. Pour 1 cup of the slightly cooled coconut milk mixture as evenly as possible over the top and then gently move the pan around until the coconut milk mixture begins to sink between the layers.
  12. Place into the oven and bake until the sides are lightly golden brown, about 25-30 minutes.
  13. Remove from the oven and cool to room temperature. Then, chill overnight in the refrigerator.
  14. When ready to eat, slice into squares and enjoy.

Root Beer Tiramisu by impudentllama in GifRecipes

Original Food Network video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqtVncrncKE

Get the recipe: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchen/root-beer-tiramisu-3714285

Root Beer Tiramisu

Total: 5 hr 5 min

Active: 40 min

Yield: 8 to 10 servings

Level: Easy

Ingredients

Three 20-ounce bottles root beer

Three 8-ounce containers mascarpone

1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar

3 cups heavy cream

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

About 36 ladyfingers or savoiardi

12 root beer barrel candies, finely crushed

Directions

  1. Heat a large skillet over high heat. Add 1 1/2 bottles root beer and bring to a boil. Cook until syrupy and reduced to about 1/2 cup, 7 to 8 minutes. Cool completely, then cover and refrigerate.

  2. Combine the mascarpone and 1 1/4 cups confectioners' sugar in a mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Beat on medium just until smooth and light (do not overbeat). In another bowl, whip the cream and vanilla with the remaining 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar until it holds soft peaks. Fold about 1/4 of the cream into the mascarpone to lighten it, then fold in the remaining cream.

  3. Pour the remaining 1 1/2 bottles root beer into an 8-inch square baking dish or other container for soaking the ladyfingers. Working with a few ladyfingers at a time, dip briefly in the root beer (just a few seconds to lightly saturate; don't oversoak) and line the bottom of a trifle dish. Spread a quarter of the mascarpone mixture in an even layer over top. Sprinkle with a quarter of the crushed root beer barrels. Repeat with 2 more layers each of soaked ladyfingers, mascarpone and crushed root beer barrels. Make 1 final layer of soaked ladyfingers and a smooth layer of mascarpone on the top. Reserve the remaining crushed root beer barrels. Cover and refrigerate the tiramisu until well chilled, about 4 hours.

  4. When ready to serve, sprinkle the top of the tiramisu with the remaining crushed root beer barrels and drizzle with some root beer reduction. Scoop out portions into serving dishes and drizzle with the remaining root beer reduction.

Refuting your argument would have been significantly more possible had there been one that made sense.

This is a shitty recipe. You should be ashamed.

Yes, I see your point. "Shitty" is so descriptive. Ah, and the ad hominem attack. Well-crafted arguments, right there.

Oh, you probably mean the further explanation you attempted to provide:

It's not remotely healthy and can actually cause harm if not prepared properly which is talked about nowhere in the recipe.

Yeah, it's not healthy. This fact isn't relevant at all to any recipe discussion on a generic recipe sub. People are allowed to consume as many calories as they choose to consume, and the onus is 100% on them to manage their intake. "Can actually cause harm if not prepared properly." Indeed, there is a minor chance someone could get sick from eating raw flour. If only there was some way for people to mitigate that risk for themselves, such as pasteurizing it. And the phrase "which is talked about nowhere in the recipe " completely discounts the several places where that information is packaged with the gif.

Repeating a non-sensical argument does not increase the validity of said argument.
