I'm not even against that. If that was a contingency to have your dog on the subway just in case someone is scared that a dog might bite.. I'd be cool with that.

This is how you can tell that you're not from around here. Growing up here, having a dog in the subway was the least of anyones problems. Transplants likes you complain about everything. Go back home to Arkansas or wherever!

If a dog shits in the subway car or in your bag, then the problem isn't the dog it's the owner. You got to train your dog that it's unacceptable to do that.

I've never experienced that and I've been taking subways for 30+ years. I have experienced homeless people smelling like death evacuating entire subway cars. My point is there's always extreme circumstances and if you want to ban dogs in all subways, then let's ban anything that has the chance of making any of us pissed off.
