That is the stuff they threaten people with,

Not just the sex stuff though. They use anything and everything to threaten a person. Financial stuff, possible lawbreaking behavior, secrets they don't want to let out, implanted memories of sexual deviance, ... etc.

I see a lot of redditors harp on about how easy it would be for a man to beat a woman in a fight just because of genetics.

Men, on average, are more physically capable than women. However, society empowers women to be violent against their men through the attitude of "strong woman" or "men are always the abusers."

extremely personal questions about their sex lives

Not just their sex lives, but everything about their lives. The HBO, Oscar-winning documentary Going Clear explores the depths of Scientology very well. Go watch it. It's a pretty amazing film and has some chilling shit about Scientology.

So you keep full saturation while sending only the excess workers. You almost always have time to do this when you're expanding to the natural. Other expands though, it's not worth spending your APM on.

We finally have a computer that can survive the surface of Venus: Sulphuric rain is easy; not being cremated by 500°C or crushed by 90 atmospheres is hard. by avogadros_number in science

Ooh, I'm an idiot. If that's the case, then the best thing would be to have a sturdy unit stationed on the edge, and the actual long-distance transmission unit maybe at the actual interface to enable charging but without frying.

If you use shift-click to unselect units from the HUD, it's not that difficult to count actually.

Maybe we can have an "armored" mode when the unit is in the day cycle of Mercury? It surrounds itself with shielding, or at least returns to a docking station that has it built-in, and waits the day out, maybe leaving a camera lens out for some low-laying photography. Afterwards, during the night, the unit moves around and transmits everything.

Probably my favorite running joke of the show.

[–]Shiroi_Kage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like the geographic restrictions mean that if you're a federal employee but are operating outside the defined geography, OSHA doesn't apply.

Besides, does OSHA have anything actually pertaining to space? Why would they? Isn't NASA the most knowledgeable here and should be the one to decide?

Dragonfly wings naturally kill bacteria. At the molecular scale, they are composed of tiny "beds of nails" that use shear forces to physically rip bacteria apart. by vilnius2013 in science

[–]Shiroi_Kage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue there would be durability. I don't think the wings of Dragonflies are designed to last 5 years with repeated grip forces applied to them. I would also be interested in how quickly residues from skin and dust would block out the "nails" and cause the surface to be ineffective.

I think the camera was turned sideways for this one because no camera I know of takes pictures left to right. It's top to bottom.

My brain was all "OOOOOOH SHIIIIIT!" as the episode ended. This was more suspenseful than waiting to see whether or not there was going to be a train accident.
