Relocating to Kansas City, MO by staiym in kansascity

I agree with you. You can really tell what the average age of a r/KansasCity user is whenever a topic that has to do with children comes up. Everyone pretending the Kansas side doesn’t exist (pretending that anything outside of midtown doesn’t exist, actually), or that KCMO public schools aren’t a dumpster fire.

/u/staiym if anyone gives you a suggestion and then immediately has to make excuses for it (it’s got some rougher parts, it’s getting better, the schools used to be bad but they’re better now...) discount those people completely.

Germany: Afghan "teen" rapefugee, who raped and murdered German girl, is actually 33-years-old by Y_R_U_A_C in The_Donald

Briefly stumbled on BBC World Service last night while going through channels. They were doing a story on African migrants coming through the alps from Italy to France. They were described as teens, but every single one they showed looked 30. The French border protection police were depicted as villains, for having the gall to enforce the law.

I lost a childhood friend today. Liberalism is a disease. by audicoupe in The_Donald

Had a friend do this too. I never post anything political on Facebook because I think posting anything of the sort to a profile with your name attached is trashy as fuck, but I never unfriended anyone who did - even when it was annoying as fuck OccupyDemocrats garbage and BernieSpam.

On election night I posted a pic of Trump smiling, with no commentary. First and only political post I've made to date. By coincidence I have a browser extension that cleans up Facebook (removes trending stories, other things) that also does a recheck of the friends list every time you refresh a page and alerts you to changes.

Within 5 minutes of posting it 3 different people had unfriended me, including a former next-door neighbor I'd been close friends with for years. Like, drink on each other's porches and talk about life and help each other in times of trouble kind of friend. I messaged him "dude, are you serious?" and he gave an incoherent spiel about how afraid for the country he is and people like me (we had never talked about politics or Trump at all previously, he had no idea I supported him) are the ones causing it. He then blocked me. He very clearly wasn't expecting to get called out immediately. Five years of friendship just gone.

84yo Korean War vet who sleeps with gun under pillow kills home intruder ‘with single shot’ by QueenStretch in The_Donald

Lifting changes your hormones. There’s research that shows that lifting and other exercise actually cures depression. The real challenge is (if you’re genuinely depressed) to find the motivation to start. A dirty secret that no one likes to acknowledge about depression is the only person who can get you out of it is you.

Let me know if you need any lifting advice.

So you plan on listening to anything or just resorting to ad hominem and getting the mods to remove the comment?

I'm an adult, motherfucker.

You're so desperate to be offended over something you've fucking horseshoed yourself back around to proto-SJW territory.

So you didn't play it. Let me spell it out for you.

Grace Walker, a black character who starts the game as an anti-white racist (and later gets her fucking shit choked out by an ally character for being a fucking racist) calls some nazis "Come get me you white ass fascist Nazi pigs" in an earlier scene, and BJ is sarcastically referencing that. The character arc of literally every supporting character in both games goes like this - character is scarred from their dealings with nazis the past 14 years, character meets protagonist, is distrustful, later heals and trusts protagonist completely. Grace starts has a complete cunt, gets better, later trusts you implicitly.

At one point you meet some people in New Orleans who are literally what college campus neo-marxists would be like at age 40. Complaining about the plight of the proletariat, shit like that) BJ tears them a new asshole for being cowards and hiding.

That's not counting all the politically incorrect stuff (a black character gets caught fucking the white fat hog character, which was fucking hilarious)

The New Order (the first game) had literally no DLC or post-launch "pay-to-win" content, except for a stand-alone prequel expansion.

You're talking completely out of your ass.

Edit: /u/bacon_eating_infidel no comment?

The game is good. Definitely shorter than New Order, any supposed SJW shit in New Colossus is from people that want to be offended or people being willfully disingenuous.

Did you actually play it, or are you just repeating something you heard someone else say?

Both New Order and New Colossus were fucking phenomenal, don't know what you're talking about. Bethesda's only sin was going with an ad firm that went with a flame-bait ad campaign to promote the sequel.

Anyone bitching about the game didn't actually play it.

Gyms within walking distance/short drive from Plaza area? by RedWingsHockey19 in kansascity

They honestly don't give a fuck as long as you're not needlessly throwing and slamming the weight, which I think is reasonable.

TheGYMKC is where I go. 3 locations, 24/7 keypad access, $40 a month, no contract. All 3 locations have the exact same equipment, but each one has different amounts. The one most equipped for bodybuilding is the River Market location - 3 squat racks and 3 power cages for bench/squat/OHP, 3 cable crosses, plus isolation machines out the ass. It's also the only location with bumper plates for deadlifting. This is the location I prefer.

There's OneLife which is brand-new. One location in the middle of power and light. Pretty good, better equipment than GYMkc (and some stuff they don't have, like a push/pull sled) but unless you go at 2am the gym is always completely packed and it's guaranteed you'll have to work-in on almost everything. Price is about the same, but you're locked into a year contract.

Gold's in Westport just shut down (rumor is acquisition and rebranding) but it was garbage anyway. Small space, everything cramped together, and necessary equipment like bumper plates were completely absent. Plus shady as fuck contracts.

Best bars for a single girl? by nailswithoutanymilk in kansascity

[–]PedroIsWatching 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My mother is from Pennsylvania, worked in Philadelphia and DC in the 70s and 80s, then moved here 30 years ago. She's told me stories of when she enrolled my half-siblings in school, how she would be warmly welcomed at parent functions only to get a cold shoulder mere minutes later.

She's called the KC style of friendliness "faux-hospitality", in that it's just a surface level of politeness but the gates slam shut the moment you might be becoming part of the group. Corroborating what /u/Pantone711 said about the East Coast, according to her both Philly and DC (each ranked in the top 5 unfriendliest American cities) were warmer and more open than KC.

It's been like this for decades.

Can anyone think of a good routine to work my way up to pull-ups with a 45lb plate from the belt? I'm already repping out pull-ups with a 25lb plate but I can't get further.

No. That's why it's called a rest day. Your muscles are resting. In peace. Because they're dead.

Fuck off. I threw that in there specifically because anytime someone points out how garbage the KC social scene is they're dismissed as this.

Suburbs are definitely a challenge. Most of the bars tend to be middle-aged regulars with some young people sprinkled in. Funny you mentioned Buzzard Beach- reason I didn’t mention them is I figured you wouldn’t fit in with their crowd.

I’m in a similar boat to you. I've started looking at groups on Meetup and other places to find things to do and I've met some cool people that way. That'll probably be your best bet.
