I'm relieved he's not conceding, but to be honest I'll have to ready myself for an extra dose of crazy from the MSM, especially if he doesn't concede after DC.

Why won't Bernie address the election fraud? by middleeasternviking in SandersForPresident

Actually, the way most of the laws are set up, it can only be challenged by a candidate on the ballot. So in this case, "top down" is the way it at least needs to start.

Why won't Bernie address the election fraud? by middleeasternviking in SandersForPresident

[–]OrdinaryPanda [score hidden]  (0 children)

All great points, but it's becoming clear that the system can and will reject anyone willing to actually change anything fundamentally.

Letting it go previously (Gore, Kerry) to avoid "throwing that grenade" starts to sound less and less like a grenade, and more and more like a can getting kicked.

We may be past a tipping point. It's hard to tell. But if we're not past it, we're really, really close.

How is the failure to address this for pragmatic reasons any different than the "lesser of two evils" road that has led us to this point, already?

Sanders and Clinton meet after final dem primary on tuesday. by alizure1 in SandersForPresident

Even if he has zero intention of joining the Green Party ticket, he should have a meeting with them just to watch the Democratic Party absolutely shit themselves in fear.

Massachusetts Sanders Supporters File Lawsuit to Hand-Count Sampling of Ballots, Citing Exit Polls by imalittleolady in SandersForPresident

[–]OrdinaryPanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One doesn't reduce the other's chances of anything, only increases each other's chances of ultimately succeeding. You want to put all your eggs in a basket that's decided to wait another 3 weeks to file? Everything could be a done deal by then.

Bernie has promised to go all of the way to the convention. If people pressure him to break that promise, he should threaten to break his promise to not run as a third party candidate. by OrdinaryPanda in SandersForPresident

You've picked the wrong season to use a new account in this subreddit. Sorry if you're legit, because any opinions you'll post in here will be met with suspicion.

One thing to keep in mind if Bernie is to run and win as an Independent by baldajan in SandersForPresident

[–]OrdinaryPanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great points, and I'm going to withhold judgement until we hear more from Bernie and Weaver.

His best play is now probably leverage as much as he can with the convention, and stay connected/ in it, so if Hillary implodes, he should be positioned in such a way that he should be who will carry the torch forward. That strategy might even include ~gag~ as VP.

Ralph Nader: There's no such thing as a political 'spoiler' by clifak in SandersForPresident

[–]OrdinaryPanda 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I agree with him, but him saying it isn't going to convince many people.

edit- Adding a link to an article I read last week that really laid bare the myth of the spoiler.

Elizabeth Warren Hurt America by Endorsing Hillary Clinton by WTCMolybdenum4753 in politics

Sorry, it's a joke because they've moved the goalposts a few times over the years, as 3rd party candidates have inched closer to rocking the boat.

What ever happened to the debate that Clinton agreed to do before California? Is it possible to get another one before the convention? by OVbunEN in SandersForPresident

[–]OrdinaryPanda -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

There is seriously no possibility of this happening.

She busted out a coupon, broke her promise and got away with it** She probably should've read the fine print.

** - "getting away with it" is only valid for one political maneuver, and there may be a voter support surcharge applied in future political endeavors

Elizabeth Warren Hurt America by Endorsing Hillary Clinton by WTCMolybdenum4753 in politics

Republicans and Democrats have gotten together and have agreed to move the threshold for being in the debates to 20%. Next meeting is set for when 3rd party challenger reaches 17%.

Hillary deletes more than emails as the latest edition of her memoir removes all her cheerleading for controversial Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal by pennyempresa in politics

So if Clinton's decisions played zero role in it, why would she delete her from her book in a newer edition, alongside other political hot potatoes?

Obama Endorses Hillary, Immediately Meets With Attorney General Loretta Lynch by RandalZ in SandersForPresident

[–]OrdinaryPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worst case is he was forming a deal or trying to steer the DOJ response if there's an indictment recommendation.

Best case is he was reassuring Lynch she had autonomy, and that his endorsement doesn't supersede her job.

DNC to build a wall around convention venue by sbuckwild in SandersForPresident

[–]OrdinaryPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely a grumble grumble from me, but think of what the Secret Service has to take into account. How do you manage security for coming/going from the convention if you have 10s of thousands of people right there?

Fake Bernie Supporters Invade Facebook Groups by navirose in SandersForPresident

[–]OrdinaryPanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are feeling rudderless, and there are full-on Bernie supporters making suggestions from their heart that may or may not be counterproductive, and there are plenty of trolls and CTR people trying to take advantage of the chaos. Don't assume every shitty idea or claim is a professional troll. Unless there's a smoking gun proving it, I'd say just voice your opinion to the idea itself, and move on.

California Landslide Possible for Sanders After Votes Counted, Election Activists Sue Media for Fraud Complicity by keka123 in SandersForPresident

[–]OrdinaryPanda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not getting why the pushback against recounts and validating ballots have been gaining traction with the public and the courts. There should be a very low bar to initiate one, and no way to stop one once it's started.

There isn't a valid argument against accuracy, and it's insane that our system has gotten to the point where it's a controversy to double check.

If you were depositing a large pile of cash at the bank, and their auto-bill-counter came up with a number that didn't sound right, and you said "I think I'd like to recount that by hand.", what would you think if the bank said no?

[–]OrdinaryPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a problem with the super delegates' use in the news already, but at least they shouldn't take it as an official pledge if they're unwilling to step forward. If they don't feel strongly enough to go on the record, why give it as much weight as the ones who do?

You've switched off CNN, MSNBC and even NPR because of their incessant Clinton bias. Now it's time to ditch Google! by fingerdigits in SandersForPresident

With the amount of damage just a few of these things can do, they don't need to convince half of us, just a small portion.
