Premise: Sacred Games tells the story of Sartaj Singh (Saif Ali Khan), a jaded cop living under the shadow of his deceased father and seeking validation from a police force he nevertheless loathes for its corruption. When Singh receives an anonymous tip-off regarding the whereabouts of Ganesh Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), a notorious crime lord who has been missing for 16 years, it sets the wheels in motion for a chain of events that burrows deep into India’s dark underworld.

Reddit makes it so that NSFW subs can't utilize the video upload feature.

If I made my NSFW thread not marked as NSFW what would happen?

The issue is the categorization of the subreddit, not the thread. Any subreddits marked as 18+ can't use the video upload feature, regardless of the content inside. The option disappears from the settings page once the subreddit is marked as 18+.

Also, is there a third party I can use to upload videos?

Any other site that you view uploaded videos through.

Last night my account was forced into the redesign. I had opted out last month. When I click opt out, it takes me to the redesign homepage and nothing happens. Any ideas?

Try going here https://old.reddit.com/prefs/ and then opt-out from there with "beta options" at the bottom. Then switch back to the normal website address and see if your default experience has changed.

I want to keep beta on though, but default to old.

I don't know what you mean, by beta options I was referring to the category of options. From there uncheck "Use the redesign as my default experience."

I'll start at the beginning. We ban medium.com posts because most of it is blog spam trash. We have something in AutoModerator called a "Disallowed Domains" rule that notifies users when their submission from that list of domains is removed, with a message telling users to ask us if they think the post should be approved anyways. Users asked us to allow the post. I didn't like the post because it didn't even name Hardwick directly, even if context clues made it obvious (I had no idea who Chloe was before this though). It also contained no serious allegations, e.g. sexual assault or rape, it just seemed like someone airing their dirty laundry. So we didn't allow it upon review.

The rule had a loophole though that's since been patched, which is that you could post the domain in the text portion of the post. A user did this in the middle of the night and none of us caught it by the time it was already in r/all. So it was left up. I personally am not big on the "leave it up if it happened to evade our clutches" philosophy because to me it's not a consistent, fair way to moderate, but meh. So the next day we let Hardwick's statement through as a matter of fairness, but we're not a news network. We can't force equal visibility on an issue since we don't control the votes. So that thread got significantly less traction, and since then, we've been trying to only allow news that directly affects television, e.g. Talking with Chris Hardwick being pulled from AMC. We've pulled more threads than just the one you saw today, but in the wee hours of the morning, it's possible for threads to rocket up quickly before any mod notices it, which is why you noticed today's thread but perhaps not any others we've removed before. We're trying to keep the sub from devolving into relationship drama, you can see the stories we've allowed since then in this search result.

If I could do it again and was awake for it I would've kept the story nuked from the start with only then allowing news concerning effects on the television industry. Another mod might've acted differently though, this comment is a mix of my personal opinion and how the mod team acts. We've been trying to refine our response to be consistent in the wake of #metoo where people's dirty laundry is equated in the same breath with legitimate criminal accusations and all the grey zone that exists in that spectrum.

It also contained no serious allegations, e.g. sexual assault or rape

Yes, she states she was sexually assaulted. I believe her that she feels that way. However, a basic definition of sexual assault is that it's any nonconsensual sexual act, including when the victim lacks the ability to give consent. According to her, Hardwick did not physically force her or drug her into sex, and as she is an adult woman, I am assuming she has agency.

To the extent that Hardwick threatened her, she only describes this:

“I just want to remind you, the reason my last relationship didn’t work out was because of the lack of sex.” It was a veiled threat. I succumbed.

I do not consider a veiled threat to break up to be overly coercive - Hardwick has the right to choose who he is in a relationship with and what he values in a relationship. She made a choice that she would rather have sex with him than to break up. Does that mean I think they had a healthy relationship? Not in the slightest.

If you haven't considered it, I would suggest you time the bans to expire on the release of the Infinity War sequel, where the effects of the snap will presumably be undone.

An alternative mobile version of the site is at i.reddit.com if you to try that out. It's light weight and ad-free. It's deprecated but overall still very functional.

Since there are virtually no votes I'm going to hold off a bit on finalizing winners. This method of voting, intended by me to help make things fair, appears to receive almost no participation at all.

I will definitely look into this going forward. But right now I feel like this is a pretty strong reaction by Reddit for this..

In my experience the admins only reserve such punishment for severely and continuously misbehaving users. It is a common frustration for mods that little is done to tackle ban evaders on alt accounts, which is why I'm skeptical that you're telling the whole story as to what got you banned.

If it is a mistake, message the admins here and include all relevant details (such as your previous account's name) and be honest. They can be very forgiving as they want users to reform, they don't want to have to constantly deal with ban evaders. They will probably read your case here anyways but better to also put your case into their queue. I would be very surprised to learn that they handed this punishment out to a user whose only crime was run-of-the-mill report trolling, especially without any prior warnings/punishments as you imply. So it's either a mistake or you're not telling the whole story. If it's a mistake, you should shortly have things cleared up for you.

If the announcement is not particularly time sensitive, you can post it normally and see how much traction it gains on its own, which if it gets votes will help pop it into users' front pages. Users usually don't bother to upvote stickies since it's seen as pointless to them. After the submission has had its day in the sun you can then sticky it, whether that's a few hours later or a day later.

You can also ask the users to upvote your post for visibility which will remind them to, and that reminder does help. Ostensibly this is against site rules but the admins have pretty much stopped enforcing that rule for a while now.

Original Poster1 point · 7 days ago

Aah that makes a lot of sense thanks :D

But so in theory an announcement could show up on users’ front page, right?

Yes it can show up on a user's front page if it has enough votes.

r/Disenchantment for the subreddit. The show releases 10 episodes on August 17th and is created by Matt Groening, the same creator of Futurama and The Simpsons. The following voice actors and their characters are known:

  • Abbi Jacobson as Princess Bean
  • Nat Faxon as Elfo
  • Eric Andre as Luci
  • John DiMaggio as Bean's father

When will there be support for the spoiler system on reddit's mobile site?

Reddit admin, speaking officiallyOriginal Poster5 points · 9 days ago

Do you mean the mobile web platform? We don't have plans to add spoilers to that.

That seems odd to me. It's the default experience on mobile. Do nearly all people convert to the app? I use AutoMod code to delete usages of the system because the spoilers display as plain text on a non-deprecated, official platform.

Can you elaborate on what you mean? Any mod has the power of a normal downvote. Do you mean something like they should be able to change a 1000 upvote post into a 500 vote one? If so, that would destroy user faith in the voting system. Anytime a post didn't get a certain amount of upvotes that a user thinks it should have, people would accuse the mods of influencing the vote count. It would poison the community.
