I don't have the "destination" option on my app. Am I missing something? by tgale in uberdrivers

I drive in Seattle occasionally. Sometimes it's there, sometimes not. I've never gotten a ride going towards my destination. (using the feature)

Uber-Moving! Pitch it to Travis! Seattle has Uber pedal. For like 5 bucks extra you get a driver with a bike rack.

I suggest you run a risk assessment on your recruitment processes.

Are you involved in local politics? Have you ever been in a position where you were hiring people and couldn't risk infiltration?

I personally have three different Facebook pages, all completely different and unrelated.

That's amazing. Also a violation of Facebooks TOS.

Also

Yeah, fake profiles wouldn't really impact our process. I mean, it's possible that someone could have an established fake profile in their name, which had content (photos with other people tagged in the correct city at the correct time, checkins, work history, etc) that was corroborated by their resume and background checks, had some of the right social connections, and none of the wrong ones, which they regularly maintained for the expressed purpose of industrial espionage.

But, come on... Let's be real here. Even those people would slip up while chit chatting over beer.

Do you suppose an Environmental group trying to get 100,000 acres of wilderness designation for a lowland river valley would want to hire a timber industry lobbyists wife?

Okay then. Do you think a State Senator would want a girl who is dating his opponent to have access to his campaign strategy?

Do you think a US intelligence agency would want to hire someone who is socially connected to ISIL (like a leaders college buddy, or a nephew or something)? If an essential function of the Job was processing top secret information and implementing a strategy to destabilize ISIL?

Didn't want to hire the competing Gubernatorial candidate's friends actually.

Like I said, "we couldn't risk infiltration." We were dealing with extremely sensitive information that the other side was always trying to obtain.

Well, we had to establish that people weren't socially connected to political opponents. Since social media presence is easy to hide, I would have to say that not having one, would make them LESS likely to get an interview.

We weren't even concerned with stuff at that level.

But on that note, if the goal is to get people elected that will protect the environment would it really make sense to hire Trump Voters?

Good luck working on political campaigns! See, the reason you wouldn't want to work for them, would not be because they looked you up on Facebook.

This was very particular political work implementing complex strategies. We simply could not risk infiltration.

You're probably safe at Starbucks.

Probably not commonly, like at Jack in the Box or Best Buy or something, although "not using Facebook" isn't exactly a protected class. This was very particular political work implementing complex strategies. We simply could not risk infiltration.

You would be surprised. I worked for a small business for a while. We checked every single applicant. If they didn't have one or we couldn't find their social media presence, that was a factor in whether or not they got an interview. It was actually more important to us that they didn't have social connections to a competitor or our political opponents than; criminal history, credit, and employement history combined.

It's called a facebook background check.
