TIL that "witch windows", or diagonal windows, exist almost exclusively in Vermont. The name comes from the superstition that witches cannot fly their broomsticks through slanted windows.

This made me smile not only because it is super adorable but also educational! One half of a dolphin's brain sleeps while the other stays alert... this is called unihemispheric sleep! So I guess dolphins can really "sleep with one eye open", so to speak.

I know this isn't exactly a guide, but I found it really fascinating and I hope you do too! So many fun facts on here. For example, the Cyclosa spider builds a large dummy spider out of debris and prey remains into their web to scare off predators. It even vibrates the web with its body to create the illusion of movement!

There is some nightmare fuel on here. For example, the trapdoor spider. They create a deep burrow with a hinged "trapdoor" entrance and burst out at unsuspecting prey, dragging them into the hole. There's also the cyclosa spider that creates a dummy spider out of debris and prey remains on their web - this serves to scare away bigger predators. They even vibrate the web to make the decoy spider seem like it is moving!
