Switzerland’s Federal Council has appointed Joël Mesot, Director of the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), as the new President of ETH Zurich. On 1 January 2019 Joël Mesot will take over from the current President, Lino Guzzella, who has continued to build the university’s formidable international reputation over the past four years.
On application of ETH President Lino Guzzella, the ETH Board has appointed nine new professors at ETH Zurich, among them physicist Yiwen Chu, who will join ETH as a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Hybrid Quantum Systems.
Optical measurements by an international team led by ETH physicist Leonardo Degiorgi provide unprecedented insight into the make-up of the enigmatic nematic order in iron-based superconductors.
