View Instructable »Yes, good point! If you're doing a regular mortise and tenon joint, that would work. With wedged tenons, however, you have to do it this way. :)

Thank you, excellent comment! I don't store mine in water. I leave them out for a day or two to completely dry, and then store them in tupperware containers. Then I soak them in advance of sharpening.

One thing I enjoy doing (I may have mentioned this somewhere else in these comments): After I make the tube, I crumple it into a ball, and then open back up and reform it into as good of a tube as I can. Now, when I throw it, it has a really funny wobble when it flies, like it's a clunker or a beat-up old aircraft (which it is!).

Great to hear! I did 2 weeks which I felt might have been a bit too long as far as my preferred texture goes. I do like them a bit crunchy as well. I think 7-10 days might be more in the "sweet spot" but I'm not sure if I miss out on any additional probiotics by not waiting longer.

Please do! The taste is really nice. You don't normally think of eating onions raw, but the fermentation takes away most of the "heat".
