You only need a battery a timer and a buzzer car ignition coil on the bed sheets which contain your sleeping perspiration and thousands of dead conductive skin cells..I used to wire things in / on my teenage bed when a wire fell to touch the bed sheet..I was shocked and to this day remember the sparks jumping about beneath me..My jerking escape movements disconnected the clip cords halting my electrocution and after wards I used a stable platform:)

Add that 100 ohm resistor on either side of the LED then touch the leeds together see if it lights..If it does not light, the LED or NPN cold be backward or damaged.
- iceng commented on TN1946's forum topic PLEASE HELP!!!!!! Moisture sensor plan not working - or is it me :-(3 weeks agoView Topic »
Exactly, in free air the LED is always ON, then when you touch the probes together the LED turns off.. I have submitted two images of the TO-92 NPN Transistor pinouts which agree ! This is a good time to point out the amount of Fake Information that is available out there.. Your pic was not detailed enough to assign curvature of the TO-92...You need solid non-oxidizing nail shaped probes held at a fixed distance apart.A zinc coating will be removed by acidic soil in an hour...Copper comes to mind if a heavy gold plated probe won't do... An Effective probe is how much area is exposed to moisture and where that moisture is important which is the plant root ball..Suffice it to say that soil measuring surface resistance is not helpfulwhen moisture content in root water is your intention..
- iceng commented on TN1946's forum topic PLEASE HELP!!!!!! Moisture sensor plan not working - or is it me :-(3 weeks ago
And how deep..This is a bad ckt for measuring moisture !Better a garage sale moisture meter...
View Topic »I assume the wires going into the soil are bare wires unlike your picture which shows only insulated red wires...This circuit is a water conductance detector... As water dissolves ionic materials in the ground the resistance between the wires decreases and eventually draws current away from the NPN transistor base which turns off the LED...The circuit is deficient and needs that 100 ohm resistor in series with the LED.. Because you might draw too much current through the LED and damage both LED and NPN...BTW the distance you separate those wires makes a big difference in how wet or dry you detect... And local water or filtered water can affect it too... Stay with one water source...

I calibrated a spectra scope using a quartz mercury arc fluorescent light but knew my glass glasses blocked the dangerous UV-C... HA ha, , , the lenses were plastic ! or poly-carbonate and sun burned my eyes real bad..Spent a horrible night with sand in my eyes, that was what it felt like, and next day rode my bike to a doctors office zigzagging from shadow to shadow..Point is, be careful and shield pump reflow through the quartz water tube in a light proof box where the UV lamp resides away from everything but germs...

Or here is a wild thought, how about a gear box that engages two gears in reverse and one in forward of a servo rotation using gravity to exchange gears.
View Topic »How mechanically adept are you..Whenever you reverse the servo it engages a lift the wheel cam..Then in forward the wheel engages the rug in traction.Or a gear train (Lego) slip clutch that only moves the wheel forward :-)

Downunder has it right..What data do you feed to your PID (Proportional Integral Differential) control to make the ball go in a straight_line, stop and come_back to the starting spot ? Do you turn a potentiometer ?Do you send RS232 or I^2 serial command strings ?Or do you depend on ladder programing to respond to a High/Low/High switch transition ?

I understand It is going to be autonomous and you are going to try to make it zero turn radius and have the drive wheels steer as well push the vehicle. But the engineer needs to know, why two motors which adds extra weight and inefficiency ?Do you already have them ? What are they ?
