Join us for a weekend of learning, friendship and fun! A wide selection of classes will allow you to sharpen your skills or maybe venture off in a different direction and try something new. And if you can only join us for one day, or two days, that is completely acceptable. However, to get the maximum benefit, the recommendation is for a full weekend of classes! Mark your calendars for July 28-30, 2017. Classes announced and registration open for GAAQG members on March 18, 2017. Registration for non-members begins May 1, 2017, based on availability.

CLASS FILLED
SQUARE C U R V E S??? Huh? Exactly what does that mean?? Author of Vivacious Curvy Quilts, Dianne Hire will teach you in this Friday class to create easy, template fee, intuitively designed squares into a motion filled wall hanging that is fast to assemble and in three optional designs: broken circles, randomly curved squares, or meandering, dancing curves. If you use basic bold brights in nearly solid fabrics, the quilt is exceptional. By the end of the day you may have your Curvaceous squares completely sewn together and ready to quilt.

Jean Coleman’s objective in teaching this Friday class is for you to learn the technique to achieve this kaleidoscope effect. She plans to teach a block with 4 repeats. You will probably end up with 16 or 20 blocks. What you do with these blocks is up to you. You could make them into place mats, a table runner, a lap quilt, a baby quilt, or a throw. If you like what you have and want to make it into something large, add borders or go back to the store where you purchased the fabric and buy more to make more blocks. A different horizontal cut from the same fabric will yield an entirely different set of blocks. Learn more about Jean in our blog interview.

When you “solve” the mystery, you will have a 52” X 76” quilt and a story to tell. This is a traditional quilt pattern, so if you have mastered your quarter inch seams and want to produce an impressive quilt top, this might be the class for you. This is all we can tell you, so bring your adventurous spirit to this workshop!

Embellishment is not only for crazy quilts, but can be used to bring heirloom beauty to the quilts you make. In this Friday class, learn to enhance your designs with embroidery, beads, ribbon, lace or trims. GAAQG member, instructor and author of Rule Breaking Quilts, Kathy Schmidt will teach hand stitching and the basics of embroidery and beading. Click here for some examples of her beaded work. You will have a pattern for a small piece, sew it in class and be ready for your final finish at home. Materials for a unique, personalized kit will be available in class ($10) or you may bring all your own supplies (see the supply list).
