Babies and Toddlers

The Clark welcomes new parents and their infants to a series of New Parents Gallery Talks on the first Friday mornings of November through March. New Parents Gallery Talks are designed to give parents a cognitive break from thinking about “all things baby” and are best suited for parents with pre-toddlers. The talks offer a chance for parents to engage with the Clark collection with their infants and participate in open-ended guided conversations about the art in a way that welcomes all contributions. 

Preschool Programs

Get your preschoolers off to a good start with themed talks, gallery guides, and art-making activities specially designed for this age group with the Start with Art program offered on second Saturday mornings of the winter months. Best suited to three- to six-year-olds and their parents, these two hour events are free and open to the public. An interactive talk and a developmentally appropriate guide will help parents encourage their children to engage with art.  Art-making can be messy—children should come dressed appropriately. 

Nature and Geocaching

Be sure to plan some extra time for hiking on our well maintained trails. If you have a GPS device, you can experience the Clark's campus in a new and exciting way with geocaching! Geocaching is a worldwide game in which hikers of all ages and abilities using GPS devices locate hidden containers called geocaches. Each geocache contains “treasures” left behind by fellow hikers.

Looking Closely Cards

Available at admissions, Looking Closely Cards have been specially designed to encourage children to view our paintings and think creatively and critically about what they see.

Sketch Pads

Available at admissions for all visitors, our sketch pads include simple suggestions and activities to help you look more carefully and hone your sketching skills.

Families

The Clark welcomes families to enjoy our galleries and beautiful campus. The intimate scale of the galleries makes visiting a comfortable and encouraging experience for family interactions. Ask at admissions for our Looking Closely cards or pick up a drawing pad and spend some time sketching in the galleries together.

The Clark offers several programs and special events for families throughout the year. These include a variety of activities—gallery talks, art making, and related entertainment—both inside and out.  For more information on family programs, please see the Calendar of Events.
