Attorney Brent Tantillo: JPMorgan Chase Fabricated Documentation to Foreclose
in Finance
Washington DC Attorney Brent Tantillo joins Neil Garfield, Charles Marshall and investigator Bill Paatalo to discuss Mortgage Resolution Servicing v JPMorgan Chase and a related False Claims Act case.
For a copy of this case: RICO Complaint – Chase
JPMorgan Chase was accused of creating a “racketeering enterprise” fort the purpose of evading its legal duties owed to borrowers, regulators and Plaintiffs, among others, to appropriately service federally regulated mortgage loans. Tantillo argued that JPMorgan Chase could not provide the necessary documentation to the Plaintiff’s regarding the loans they purchased, while borrowers whose loans were sold to JPMorgan Chase could not obtain proof regarding the ownership of their loans. Loans sold without proper documentation (notes, reconveyances and assignments) are void, not voidable. JPMorgan Chase foreclosed on “loans” with no legitimate documentation by hiring Nationwide Title Clearing to create false title and paperwork necessary to foreclose.
To avoid costly and time consuming legal obligations it faced under the Acts, JPMorgan Chase warehoused loans in a database of charged-off loans known as RCV1 and intentionally and recklessly sold these liabilities to unaware buyers.

IMN NPL Podcast Series-NPL/RPL Property Valuation Process, O'Grady, CEO ProTeck
in Finance
According to a recent article in Bloomberg, U.S. securities regulators are investigating whether bonds backed by single-family rental homes and sold by Wall Street’s biggest residential landlords used overvalued property assessments.
Several of the largest BPO providers received a request for information from the SEC in March requesting information about the BPO’s services they provide.
The agency has been looking at whether BPOs were wrongly inflated potentially serving as a starting point for an industrywide probe. The SEC is scrutinizing how BPO providers compete for business and whether their customers shop for providers willing to put the highest value on their properties.
Joining the podcast to discuss the valuation process, as it relates to NPL/RPL & Single Family Rental deals is Tom O’Grady, CEO of Pro-Teck Valuations Services. Pro-Teck has been providing residential real estate valuation services since 1977.

Suze Orman
in Finance
It was at Borders Books on Chicago’s State Street where women and men were lined up literally around the corner to get a glimpse at the Money-Making Maven, Suze Orman. Signing autographs, smiling at strangers and shaking every hand that reached out to her made a successful book signing on The Road to Wealth.
This book hit the New York Times Bestseller’s list within its first weeks release, making Suze Orman a bona fide financial superstar! Suze shared with me, “Out of all the books I’ve written, I’m lovin’ this baby more than any of them! 9 Steps to Financial Freedom hit number one on the New York Time Bestsellers list which was an absolute phenomenon in itself but everybody said, ‘that’s not so hard – anybody can do that if you’re on Oprah 11 times.’ Courage to Be Rich comes out and goes right to number one on the New York Times Bestsellers list and everybody says, ‘oh, that’s not that hard – you had an entire PBS special behind you. Road to Wealth comes out and one week after it comes out without any publicity whatsoever except for 4 minutes on the Today Show which is not enough to make a New York Times Bestseller; it hit the New York Times Bestsellers list within one week! What that says to me is that people are buying me now not being sold to me.”

Ep. 45: History Of Coke In Two July Days
in Finance
This week, we're shaking up the format a bit. Instead of our usual tour through the darker alleys on Wall Street, we're taking a look at a little bit of business history.
And in deference to Independence Day (and to cold beverages), we're going for a July-centered theme. In this episode, we detail two key days in the history of the Coca-Cola Company, both taking place in July, but happening nearly seven decades apart.
In the first, we look at the July day in 1916 when Coke introduced its now-iconic bottle. In the second, we fast-forward to the 1980s, when the company had to fight to save itself from one of the biggest blunders in corporate history.
