Funding Opportunities

• NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA)
  Students gain research work experience to complements their studies. Applications are coordinated with the research supervisor (faculty). BCIT’s allocation of USRAs is four (4). Detailed information on application procedures is posted at : http://www.nserc-crsng.gc.ca/Students-Etudiants/UG-PC/USRA-BRPC_eng.asp . Two forms need to be completed on-line:
  
  • FORM 202 Application for an Undergraduate Student Research Award PART I. Personal Data — To be completed by student, and
  • FORM 202 Application for an Undergraduate Student Research Award PART II. Proposed Location of Tenure and Research Project — To be completed by the proposed supervisor.
  Student applicants must make sure they are eligible to apply and supervisors must make sure that they are eligible to supervise. Normally, supervisors must hold NSERC funding, however, supervision of faculty members without NSERC funding may be considered. BCIT will then need to obtain prior approval from NSERC by submitting a request (see details at http://www.nserc-crsng.gc.ca/students-etudiants/ug-pc/usra-brpc_eng.asp). If this case applies to you, please submit the required information to ARLO no later than March.

• BC Technology Scholarship Fund
  The BC Technology Industry Association established the BC Technology Scholarship Fund in 2005. This industry-funded program provides non-repayable grants to students who have a proven passion for technology that are studying in a variety of traditional technical fields such as engineering or computer science and in non-traditional fields such as marketing, sales, and product development and project management.
  Applications are accepted in April each year.
  
  
• Dr. Jim McEwen Excellence in Engineering Design Awards
  The ALS Society of British Columbia has established three Awards to encourage and recognize innovation in technology to substantially improve the quality of life of people living with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease). Students at the undergraduate or graduate level in engineering or a related discipline at a post-secondary institution in British Columbia or elsewhere in Canada are eligible for the Awards. Students may be considered individually or as a team. Mentor Awards may also be given to faculty supervising students who win awards.
