blindfire reply Your perspective is a challenging one to hold. Still, it is a healthy one, and I prefer it, in spite of the challenges that it presents, to wallowing in misery or living in denial. -

HeroicVillain reply Yo! HeroicVillain in tha house people. I totz dig what this guys talking about. I remember this one time my face was getting banged by one of those California condors, long story, hard to explain, but the rescue team said he may have mistaken me for a potential mate on account of the carrion I was eating at the time. Anyway, I was getting whipped the other day and did I complain? No, cause REAL MEN are stuff like that. Every time she pulls out one of my toe nails and tells me I've been a bad boy, I'm like "Yeah! Gimme another, please", real character building manly stuff to pass on to the kids. Know what I'm sayin'? Pain is Good. -

Fauwst reply Great idea to keep the music going for a bit, it keeps people (me) in the moment and gives the brain time to think about and process what you said. -

[ – ] SevenIsAPerfectlyGoodNumber reply Christian-tier, unsubstantiated nonsense. This is your introverted feeling, as Jung put it, speaking: you (as an INFP) are projecting your imagination upon reality: inevitably, this yields poetic nonsense, which makes you feel good, but isn't necessarily anywhere near the truth of external reality. The absurdity of life has this effect upon a good many of people: they invent "gods" to deal with it; but the truth is that these "gods" are not necessary for a sense of meaning in life. Criticism aside: the music on this video is lovely, so thanks for that.-

[ – ] ForgottenRoots parent reply I don't believe in "gods" as physical entities, only as archetypes and personifications of certain virtues.-

SevenIsAPerfectlyGoodNumber parent reply Well, Karol, that in itself is fine, BUT that's not what you were saying in the video. You spoke as though life was created by supreme beings who have a strange benevolent darwinism complex: which would be fine if you by yourself insisted on believing in this without attempt at remedy (though, it would be unfortunate because it's better when we stay close to the truth, and discern our poetry from our facts), but I feel behoved to prevent such a mad fantasy from spreading. Let's be honest, right: things just are as they are: good and bad, beauty and beast. They all simply exist. The question is not "why" or "who dunnit" (God, gods, toothfairy), but, rather, how to live a life, constrained by the ways of this world, in which one feels fulfilled: this is where aesthetics and morality, politics, science, and whatever else, come in. It's like the anime film and French poem says: "The wind rises. We must find a way to live." If anything, "how to live" is the only great question to which we c...morean find an answer. For people like us, it's seeking a simpler life, surrounding ourselves with Eurocentric and fantastical motifs, and so on. However, don't fool yourself, Karol: the universe doesn't give a fuck. Find me a molecule of justice? Find me the cosmic orb of beauty? It's simply human folly. It's poetry. We're all playing a game, you see. I had this idea before I knew Shakespeare had it, but here it is from his mouth, anyhow: "All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances". The question is how best to play the game of life, given our individual natures? This is why there is vastness of opinion in art, music, politics, and so on: we're all just trying to find our way in the truest game that there ever has been. But we mustn't forget that it is a game. What we do is of no ultimate purpose. It is simply us doing what we must do, else we get bored, depressed, and so on; and simply we enjoy our folly. For example: morality is real insofar as we experience it: but is it of any cosmic significance? Not that I can see. The black window spider doesn't care about what I think about cannibalism, anymore than the virus cares about what I think about parasitism; nor do the particles of the vagina rebel against the unwanted dick. Morality is, thus, indeed, subjective: but does that make it any less real? This is why the whole "Is morality subjective or objective?" squabble is foolish. Anyway, I'll end this with a bloody good clip from a Terry Pratchett film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnaQXJmpwM4 Hopefully you like it. :) -

[ – ] SanguisEtSolum parent reply But planets are physical entities. Thor (Jupiter), for example, literally protects mankind by attracting on itself (himself?) meteors that would otherwise hit the Earth-

SevenIsAPerfectlyGoodNumber parent reply But they do so as accidental, gigantic clusters of particles, not as sentient beings like ourselves. Mythology is not necessary to explain physics. However, it is fun to portray things playfully, indeed; though, we must remain conscious of the distinction between our facts and our fiction, no matter how fun that fiction might be. Anyhow, read my reply to Karol. :)
